Mac DeMarco – Cooking Up Something Good Lyrics

|
second verse, first two lines - a nod to Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues.
"Johnny’s in the basement
mixing up the medicine
I’m on the pavement
thinking about the government"
just realized this. I'm 100% convinced marijuana makes you smarter. |

The Beach Boys – Hang On To Your Ego Lyrics

that's a cool story bkat004 (I especially loved the bit about Love calling out Parks on the meaning of a song). but does anyone actually know what Hang On To Your Ego is about, what it means, etc.? I've always been fascinated by it but never quite understood. |

The Beach Boys – Hang On To Your Ego Lyrics

This is a common misconception. The Beach Boys actually covered Frank Black's version, but changed the lyrics to "I Know There's An Answer," a nod to Brian's deep faith in Christianity at the time. |

Bob Dylan – 4th Time Around Lyrics
|
[this has prob been said before but I'm not weeding thru 40+ comments.]
the pun that the song ends with gets lost on Americans since the British variant of "crotch" is "crutch." as in:
"I never asked for your crotch now don't ask for mine."
no matter, I absolutely love the flow of this song, the vocal rhythm is Dylan at his finest. |
