The Tallest Man on Earth – This Wind Lyrics 15 years ago
Does anyone know what it means? I am guessing, but I always picture the wind as a changing force. So maybe the world is changing and the old world, the raven is dying, allowing the eagle to emerge.

The Rural Alberta Advantage – The Dethbridge in Lethbridge Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's about a breakup instead. Over the death of the girl's grandfather. He wants to keep it going, but she is adamant. So he has to get out of the small town they both live in to avoid "her cold heart."

Cloud Cult – The Will of a Volcano Lyrics 15 years ago
There's just something to this song that screams to me every single time it's on. I feel like Craig is talking right to me when he says "You have the will of a volcano." Or at least I hope he is.

The phrase Will of a Volcano is just an incredibly great summation of many people's lives. Maybe the will to do something isn't there, but if you get the right circumstances...boom.

Titus Andronicus – Four Score and Seven Lyrics 15 years ago
Anybody know if the consistent use of the "born to die" is in response to Springsteen or just something they came up with themselves? It's used in the first song on the album (A More Perfect Union) as well. I'm guessing it's half and half.

Either way great, great song.

Titus Andronicus – No Future Part III: Escape from No Future Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that, going along with the theme of the entire album, it's about internal struggle in general. The line about needing something that works faster and not wanting to feel anything is probably about antidepressents, but there is something bigger than just that.

It's an internal Civil War. Possibly about selling out. The line "took what made me beautiful and I threw it away" lends to that.

I feel like this is about the times in life when you think you won't make it anymore. That you have to quit. Feelings that envelop you in darkness. You will always be a loser. But then you get through the rough patches and you say a big fuck you to the guy in the dungeon down inside you. Getting to the point where you accept yourself and say it's OK.

The Gaslight Anthem – Old White Lincoln Lyrics 15 years ago
The "lit a cigarette on a parking meter" line is a reference to Bob Dylan's Talking World War III Blues.

One of Dylan's best songs, in my opinion. Works so well in this song.
