The Sisters of Mercy – Lucretia, My Reflection Lyrics 15 years ago
While Eldritch conjours up some exceptional lyrical jibes at various targets I feel he is also a master of weaving a story into just a few words. Consider two lines, almost identical, one at the start and one at the end:

Lyric: "We don't doubt, we don't take direction"

Key phrase: 'take direction' - to be told what to do.

Or to put it another way: 'We are strong of conviction and will not be told what to do'.
Pretty much the cry of any revolutionary government newly in power before they are forced to, or actively refuse to, listen to 'the people'.
More likely to be part of tha narative than to have any hidden meaning.

...and then, later...

Lyric:"We don't doubt, we don't take reflection"

Key phrase: 'take reflection' - to consider one's actions or position, usually after the fact

Or, 'We are right, we always have been right, we do not need to atone for our deeds'
After some time any governing power will beforced to look back on and account for their actions or turn their backs on it and declare 'What is done is done' or 'The end justifies the means'.
Again narative; in this case that moment of pride before the fall of an empire. Before long the rot tends to set in and the nation in question will enter an era of decline and fall.

But that's another song...
