Mayday Parade – Save Your Heart Lyrics 15 years ago
I completely agree, for me it's a line that's for hard to understand, but yet it's so true and beautiful that it ties the song together.

Mayday Parade – Save Your Heart Lyrics 15 years ago
So I'm sorry this is crazily long. But this song means so much to me, and when I write about the meaning, I'm writing about myself as well.

To me, this song is about a girl who just falls for this guy really hard, and when it doesn't work it, she takes it out on herself, essentially hitting rock bottom alone "She fell to the bottom of her life, this wasn't meant for two." This girl had tried everything, even changing who she was to get this guy, but it didn't work and now "she struggles to find herself in time", maybe before she loses it (maybe from self-harm, or depression), maybe even killing herself. "But she can barely move", meaning the guy was harder to get over than she thought.

"Just try to get up, you've gotta slowly brush off. I know that words aren't enough, but you're better than this." This means the girl has to keep on trying (get up), and brush off the pain, even though she feels like she is worthless, and like there's no life after all that has happened.

"Save your heart, for someone that's worth dying for. Don't give it away". I find this part sort of a play on words of what this girl is feeling, because she feels like if she can't have him, she'll die. But he isn't worth death, because she doesn't deserve her heart because he hasn't done anything kind for her, but she gives her heart to him regardless.

The feeling of how much she is broken by all that has happened, and never gets what she's been crying for every night, and how the situation doesn't change, yet she doesn't give herself enough worth to walk away is shown in "Torn apart, never getting what you've been crying for, it's always the same."

"She turns the pages every day, just to change the mood." I believe that this part means she tries to change the mood of how he feels about her and forget the past and moving on (turning the pages), by going from always being there, to just not fitting effortlessly into the few empty spaces of his life where she'll get his attention, which keeps her hanging on.

However, her efforts often mean nothing at all, because the past just keeps repeating itself, sending her deeper into her depression, making each day harder to get through. "But every chapter reads the same, it's so hard to make it through."

"And you give, and they take." The girl gives out so much love, and the guy and other people take it, but they don't return it, making her feel so empty on the inside, like there's nothing left.

I had trouble with this part. "And it's love that you want, but not love that you make." To me, I find this means the girl wants true love, not a love that she has to fabricate herself and compensate for the love she isn't receiving.

"I know that you're scared, seems like someone said you had it in you." This girl fears failure, which could be why she refuses to let go, because someone (the guy) said she had love in her, and could do anything.

And yet this girl knows what she is doing to herself is wrong, and that the guy doesn't deserve her after everything she's given him that he's thrown away, but still believes in him regardless, because she irrationally thinks that he is worth it. "All along, you said you knew this was wrong, but still worth dying for."

And that's it. If you have any comments, I would be glad to hear them, because this is an amazing song.
