"It's a kind of magic"
A phrase that the guy (I can't remember his name at the moment)says several times in the movie "Highlander". An alternate version is played in the end credits of the movie which is also Roger's version of the song, I believe (it's not confirmed though). The version on the album is Freddie's. I prefer the movie version / video version myself. |

This song is obviously about a vampire with a soul. He's ashamed for being a vampire and is afraid that he can't give the woman he loves (human of course) what she needs and wants.

He can't see himself in the mirror cause vampires doesn't have a reflection
"it's not me / so beautiful and free / i'll never be what you need / can't help at all / i was born so beautiful /but now i'm ugly
He was born so "beautiful" (human) but became "Ugly" when he turned in to a vampire. He doesn't feel free either because of his limits of being a vampire.

He's a vampire = dead
"i know i'm nothing / i know there's nothing i can say / to change /the judgment in their ways"
He's feeling worthless. What's the point of being a vampire with a soul? He also says it doesn't matter if he has a soul or not. He'll always be judge for being just a vampire. People will forget the soul part.
"i'm good enough, but i don't care"
He tries to see the good in this. He can still fight other vampires and save people from them but is this really his life? He will live forever if no one kills him. A life without love and friends. Depressing.
"the sun is out, but i'm not there"
He can't be in the sun cause he'll burn up. I think it's pretty obvious that there is a vampire we're talking about.
