Country Joe McDonald – Maria Lyrics 7 months ago
This song is about fighting in the war. The singer signed up for fighting in the war, but doesn't like it any more.

@[floydism:16520] He did indeed become "insane", as you put it. He showed no signs of mental instability until the pressure (and drugs, etc) got to him during his time with the Floyd. There was then a clear mental breakdown. To use the word "insane" is pejorative and stigmatising. Someone is not "insane" - they suffer from a mental illness, usually a psychotic illness such as schizophrenia. The person is still there alongside the illness.

@[Black:16519]&GreenAchilles A lot of assumptions here. And it's not "the tune they play is in ask confide", it's "the tune they play is in us confide".

Glasvegas – Geraldine Lyrics 10 years ago
Great song. I don't think it's sarcasm per se. I also think that the social worker bit is important and you can't just substitute someone else in there. It's a bit of social commentary about the sad plight of a lot of people out there, requiring a state worker to help them with all these problems.

Pas love how the songs release pre-mid 80s have no comments. Says something about the demographic of the website. Bieber? 10000 comments.

Frank Zappa – Who Are The Brain Police? Lyrics 16 years ago
Interesting comments above. But get with the programme guys. Which professionals "police" the brains, or at least the thoughts that come from it? Answer = psychiatrists. They are known as the brain police. "When we let you go home" refers to being discharged from a mental or psychiatric hospital. A psychiatric diagnosis is known as a "label". The ideas about plastic and chrome are the delusional ruminations of a madman.

Gong – Other Side of the Sky Lyrics 16 years ago
The opening track to Angels Egg, this is what it's all about guys, a mantra of aural intercourse, Zero the Hero has his tea spiked by the good witch Yoni and flops onto a handy waterbed with head extending into the sky where he sees the vision of the immaculate quim.

Gong – Oily Way Lyrics 16 years ago
Interesting posts. But get with the programme guys; if you take a look at the original album cover, it shows Zero the Hero floating off into the sky towards a women's spread thighs. The previous track, "prostitute poem" is about Zero's encounter with a, um, prostitute. So when zero enters the "oily way", it doesn't take a giant leap of faith to realise that this is A WOMAN'S HAIRY LOVE TUNNEL !!
