Nas – Hip Hop Is Dead Lyrics

What I like most about this is that Nas doesn't exclude himself from the "Hip hop is dead" argument. He's talking about himself, too. At the end, his buddies show up, and they can't even get in because the concert is sold out. It's reflective -- not like he's just saying he was right all along but everybody else sold out. Great single and I hope he returns to Illmatic form. |

Proof that rap can be fun. This song is miles ahead of lots of his "serious" counterparts. |

I disagree. I've always loved this song and been annoyed when people act like the Clash's best stuff is all the punk stuff. The punk rock is great, but this song is up there with all of London Calling. In fact, there really is no weak track on that album; only tracks that don't stand out as much. |

I mean, come on, herpes? You gotta be kidding me.
And him being sexually confused? Like every other song he wrote is about how much he wants to fuck girls. |

This song is obviously not about masturbation. You guys are acting like morons. It's not about anything. Gordon Gano didn't write songs with definite purposes like that (with a few exceptions). Like, what's "Add It Up" about? Frustration. "Black Girls"? He's horny. He likes black girls. The guy's not Lou Reed.
"Blister In The Sun" is about a mood, like a certain kind of feeling. Walking around, struttin' your stuff, not knowing why. Going wild in the sun. That's what it's about. |

Green Day – Last of the American Girls Lyrics

Ideal girl right here. I think people trying to make sure how it fits into the concept are missing the point. Sure it describes the girl in the story, but the point is what these guys consider a dying breed, this kind of American girl who spins records and puts on makeup like graffiti. Great song, and like almost all songs on concept albums, it stands alone better then as part of the story. |

I have no idea what the meaning is to the lyrics of this beautiful song.
I suspect that old Lou Reed would find you all trying to dissect his lyrics pretty funny. The only really perceptive comment here is gnagy's. |
