I never can tell exactly what he's saying when I listen to it, but these lyrics add so much meaning to rhythm of the song and to his smooth voice. I think it's about him loving a girl, but never being able to get close to her. About him watching from afar and trying patiently, diligently to get her to let him in. Then finally realizing and expressing that all that time she secluded herself, they both missed out on what could have been the warmth of a close relationship. Regardless, it's undoubtedly beautiful. |

I think its about one of those relationships that are comfortable so its what you always end up going back to. After it ended, he wanted her back, because he wanted to be loved, and being with her is better than being lonely. But he never really loved her with the kind of passion that you look for, and he knows even if he got her back, he'd still never really love her. |
