i think the meaning is in the title..its nothing to do with the bible,religion etc..its a simple case of ok good news/bad news,which do you want to hear first?...give me a more optimistic outlook for once.look as well at the lyric booklet.the pic is of a crow on a grave holding a newspaper that says "cure found" implying that it may have been found but for the person who is buried,its too late...irony figures as well. |

personally i don`t think it is about using alcohol to help life move along.only the first verse is about having a drink to ease the strain of the day.the song is about the power of dreams.as all the songs on "power windows" are about differing types of power,this one is about how dreams and desires can take you away from a mundane existence if only for a short time. |

when this album came out in 1981,over here in the uk we had a music paper who loved rush.as the second part of the song is set in london the bit you refer to is actually does sound like a burp but then geddy does a cockney accent and says "mornin` guv" as if it was old time london.. |
