It's obviously about a relationship going south. But it's one sided on the decision to end it. "You'll say we've got nothing in common No common ground to start And we're falling apart You'll say the world has come between us Our lives have come between us" The other person keeps claiming it can't work, but according to the singer "I know you just don't care" According to the lyrics it seems like the relationship use to be very good "I see you the only one who knew me" And the chorus: "And I said what about Breakfast at Tiffany's She said I think I remember the film As I recall I think we both kinda liked it Then I said well then that's one thing we got" as silly as the chorus is it seems to me like he is willing to work on the relationship because he knows it will work so he attempts something as silly and feeble as a bond over a movie.
