| 'Til Tuesday – Coming Up Close Lyrics | 7 months ago |
| @[Lord:53652] Hasenpfeffer Aimee actually helped explain this further at a live concert in 1986. You can search up "Live at Empire Rock Club, Philadelphia, PA (11-28-86)" on youtube and listen to her explanation. She said "coming up close to God or Heaven or whatever you want to believe in". So, yes, being in the relationship felt like entering close to God or Heaven, and the character in the song is exclaiming their pain and longing for this feeling, coming up close but not quite getting there. Everything sounds like "welcome home, come home" is the feeling of entering heaven, or being with God. Such a beautiful song, thank you Aimee. | |
| Sting – All This Time Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Love Sting and love this album, but I'd like to point out something interesting here: "Blessed are the poor, for they shall inherit the earth Better to be poor than a fat man in the eye of a needle" I might be completely incorrect on correcting Sting here, maybe it was intentional, but this is not what Jesus said and the interpretation therefore is innacurate. Jesus said "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth". Key difference being the word "meek". Meekness is a term used to describe strong or perhaps perfect self control and positively awesome choice/decision making. Jesus was meek, devoid of all sin and able to live a life full of self control and spreading love and positivity through his actions always. Meekness is not to be confused with weakness, or as Sting has put it, being "poor" or disadvantaged. This alters the entire understanding of the quote and eliminates the meaning entirely. Those who are meek "shall inherit the Earth", meaning they will gain all the wonders, life and beauty this world has to offer them, spiritualy and mentally. Just wanted to point that out, maybe Sting intended this alteration for some reason? |
