In a nutshell, the protagonist has doubt. He has the super naturally power to peer into the future and feels the responsibility to influence it, but he knows to do so will end his life. He questions commitment and integrity, and a biblical passage sneaks its way in- Walking on water are miracles all you can trust The poor fellow has no first hand evidence, he has to take his vision on faith, but he wonders how he believe in what he can never prove, and even further give his life. In the end, its hinted that he decides to life a sinful life despite his abilities, he throws away his responsibility, and so the good dies young, but the evil lives on forever. |
