The Cure – Just Like Heaven Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I've always interpreted this song to be about one of those rare dreams you have where either a real or imagined girl is absolutely perfect for you. It doesn't matter what you're doing with her, you're having an incredible time. "You're just like a dream..." being some forshadowing. Then, the bridge going: "Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone Alone Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me" Being that feeling when you wake up and feel like you've had the longest, most intense dream ever. And realizing the "dream girl" doesn't actually exist or even have a name that you know. The raging sea being your mind, where that perfect girl from your dream has now been lost forever. I'd never even considered that the song's about oral sex, this makes a lot more sense to me. |
