This is the song that got me into Bone Thugs back in high school, I found the cd on the ground and this was the only track that played properly on it cause it was so scratched up. I didn't really like rap back then besides Eminem, but I liked this song right away. |

I used to listen to this song a lot as a kid, like ten years old, and laugh at the chanting, I thought it was just the funniest thing when I was younger. As I grew older, I listened to this song more recently, the first time I heard it after maturing, I cried through it, it was so warming and comforting in this world where I'm normally completely lost, to hear, dont care what people say, just follow your own way, that alway helped a lot and still does. |

I wish she would change her mind if I asked her one more time..but we've been through that a hundred times or more. I am going out to BC instead of Alberta though, gotta start a new life, theres no other way to get rid of this heartache. Thank you Neil for giving me someone to relate to. You've saved my life many times. I will love your musical contributions forever..even if this is Ian & Sylvia's originally, I like your version more, hehe |

This song effing rules. I was converting my buddies to Sabbath one hazy night and they forced me to play this song again right after it was done, and they hadn't even heard the rest of Vol. 4 yet! Love this song, genius riffs and changes as with all of their compositions. Lol. |

Holy crap I can't believe there aren't more comments on this one.. This song is so genius. Listen closely to it's composition, the brass instruments and the wide array of other instruments in the background. What an arrangement. I can just picture the studio full of like 50 people with different instruments and Brian Wilson obsessively working out their parts :P |

Lol I dont know how we all have so many variations of the only lyrics to this song. I believe the Something's in the Air Barry Manilow thing, but I heard "Up in the air" as in "look, up in the air, its a bird its a plane..." kinda deal, lol. |

I'm pretty sure it's:
"Night after night
stone after stone
you turn to speak but you're alone
million miles from home your on your own"
and I believe the stone after stone part refers to being high each night to cope with the sorrow of the love interest being absent. |

The last verse definitely does not say depart. Although it makes sense too. I listened to it like ten times and "the star part" does seem to fit best. It also sounds like he's saying "so this time I'm going to have to start pot" which seems quite possible knowing the topics of Sabbath's songs a lot of the time. I also "started pot" when my girl left me, but now I am much better without her.. hah |

This song not only talks about the religious aspect of being controlled, but the lifestyle aspect in general. Running their rat races, trying to make a buck. We don't need a lot of money to be happy, in fact I'm living a much more simple life now, working less, but consuming less as well and enjoying the luxuries our world has provided for free, and I don't ever want to turn back to the commotion of today's world.
I'll take my life at my own speed, Brother. |

Who has weddings on Sundays? Not in my area, my Dad is a Disc Jockey for weddings and he's maybe gotten one on a Sunday over his 25+ years in business. What else is on Sundays though? Church.. This is what makes me think that it could be about a Nun as others have speculated..Tried to make it Sunday to church to see the nun. Just my thoughts.. |

Come on I can't believe no one has commented this amazing song! I've been playing it nonstop on my guitar since I learned it as well. There's no hidden meaning really behind these lyrics, a guy who doesnt want to be with his girlfriend anymore, but does not want to break up with her to her face, so he writes a letter and wants his friend to give it to her on his behalf. Nowadays, it's too easy to dump people, I know this well, having been dumped by a girl from a 3 year relationship through a cell phone text.
Is it you don't want to see her cry, is that why you won't go and say goodbye? |

Each person has their own interpretation. Many of us light up while we enjoy DSOTM from start to finish, it's fine if you don't. It's quite obvious that Pink Floyd was high during most, if not all of their recordings. So, the work they created was influenced by drugs. Therefore, calling it a trippy drug song is perfectly valid. I personally don't care or need to know the band's meaning to the song, my own meaning brings me much more emotion when I listen to it.
So, loosen up man. Grab yourself a doob and crank 'er. Nobody bashed the song, everyone loves it including you and I. |
