| Macklemore – Same Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It takes balls for a straight rapper to risk his career and call out the homophobia in the Hip-Hop industry. Good for you. | |
| James Blake – Why Don't You Call Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I don't think this is about an argument with a girlfriend. "Why don't you call me what we both know I am," implies that he's in an argument, yes, but that the arguments have started hitting below the belt, and that the antagonist is skirting around a topic that the singer has never made explicit, but is unashamed of. I personally interpret this song as the narrator being gay, and having an argument with a family member or close friend. And the antagonist is getting dangerously close to calling the narrator a faggot. (What we both know I am.) |

| Adele – Turning Tables Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Adele said in an interview that this song came to fruition after she was explaining her relationship with this guy by saying "He's always fucking turning the tables on me," and Ryan Tedder (who helped her write the song,) said that he really liked the phrase (turning tables.) So it's not about a physically abusive relationship, the guy wasn't literally turning tables over, but he was always oscillating violently between moods, and the relationship was really just unstable. |

| Noisettes – Never Forget You Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Ok, for the record, the whole "silver boots must mean it's a woman," is just wrong. Watch the video for it; those are men's boots. More importantly, stop being so gender binary. It doesn't always have to be about a boy she's in love with or a girl she's in love with , it's somebody, and that's enough for me. For me, this song is about a relationship which was romantic, and failed in that respect, but had a rebirth as an amicable friendship. |

Nicki Minaj is a motherfucking monster. Jay-Z, however, seemed to miss the mark. |

| Kings of Leon – Pickup Truck Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The lyrics seem to be about seeking out an old flame, and finding out that she's in an abusive relationship. When her boyfriend shows up, he can't control his rage and gets in a fight. |

| Bloc Party – Plans Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I completely agree with the idea that this song is trying to stir someone up into action, but the way I interpret this song is towards gay rights. They "daydreamer" is someone who is in the closet, afraid to be himself, while the narrator wants to fight for his rights. | |
