| Paul Simon – Something So Right Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love this song - especially the chorus. It's about how easy it is to focus on what's wrong - or to just assume the worst - and to question or not trust everything that seems good. | |
| Joan Baez – Diamonds and Rust Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
No question this is about Bob Dylan. She has said so and so has he. "...we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust" Memories can bring feelings that are beautiful and bright, or corrosive and destructive...bittersweet. I think the line about "I've already paid" means that she has nothing left to give him; the bitter outweighs the sweet and she doesn't want to dredge up their memories. |

| Joan Baez – A Song for David Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Clearly written for her husband David Harris during his incarceration for draft evasion. Their son Gabriel Harris was just an infant. Although she did wait, their marriage, sadly, did not last very long after his release. | |
| Joan Baez – So We'll Go No More A-Roving Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Actually, this is a poem by Lord Byron about his body giving way to age and dissolute living (written before he was 30!) But when I hear Joan Baez sing it, it evokes a very different meaning for me: a young woman whose lover has died, lamenting that they will never again share a midnight tryst. Her voice makes it heartbreaking. |
