I think that this song is about a traveler guy who fell in love with a Irish girl on an one-night-stand. She left the guy after the fancy night. Only a suggestion. |

I somewhat agree what Noodles15 is saying on how it might not be religious, but on the other hand, it could be religious. Anyway I thought this song was about a confused relationship between a priest or a sister and a person who goes to church. A priest/sister technically is not supposed to have any relationships with someone, so the relationship has to be out of sight. The pries/sister is technically not a priest/sister anymore because of the relationship, so the other lover is asking the priest/sister why he/she is still a priest/sister. So why do you fill my sorrow = priest/sister giving guidance to the lover With the words you've borrowed From the only place you've know =reference to bible And why do you sing Hallelujah= the choir thing the church have If it means nothing to you = the priest/sister has kinda like betraying his occupation/religion/God so basically he/she is pretending at the point Only a suggestion |

I think this song is related to drug addiction. Reasons why: 1. The song is used in the tv drama Cleaner, which is addiction related 2. "But I can't win And I can't fight I keep holding on too tight" is a reference to how a drug addict cannot overcome the drug and has to rely more on the drug 3. "I'm not coming home now I know... I'm so far away So far from home" - reference to how drug addicts take a long course of medical help to overcome the drug in order to go back home and have a normal life 4. "That can mend... These broken bones" - reference to the need of assistance going through the procedure of breaking away from the addiction It's a suggestion |
