| The Gun Club – Sex Beat Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It is about only wanting someone based on appearance and appeal and not about wanting someone for their soul and the very fabric of their entity. It is about the naivity of allowing someone to convince you that another only wants you for the purpose of sex when in fact the person wants to love and be loved. |

| Destroyer – Libby's First Sunrise Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is about a jezebel who uses men to gain emotional empowerment and who only cares about appearance and not the actual heart of the men she toys with. All is well until one night she lets her guard down and becomes intoxicated and taken advantage of. Only as the sun rises does she see the error of her ways. | |

| Spot on. Dave went on to make some classic records though. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – My God Is the Sun Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Could be. Since I wrote my interpretation I though exactly what you wrote. This appears to be a concept album about unrequited love. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Keep Your Eyes Peeled Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Variation of Devo's "Mr. B's Ballroom" in which a gang of delinquents drink and act idiotic while destroying everything around them in a dystopic arcade only to succumb to police control in the end. Most of this is buried in euphemisms. The promo video further validates the theme. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – I Sat By The Ocean Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Drinking to compensate for the depression of unrequited love. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Fairweather Friends Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Self explanatory tale of non platonic friends with benefits. The ending is amusing because Josh sort of mocks the cheesiness or cliche in the over-usage of said motive in lyrics. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Kalopsia Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Arthur Rimbaud poetic vignette of opium induced hallucination. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – The Vampyre Of Time And Memory Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Life falling apart and the coping mechanism of the individual to re-achieve it. Similar to the film "American Beauty" or the Talking Heads song "Once In A Lifetime". | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Kalopsia Lyrics | 12 years ago |

| Queens of the Stone Age – My God Is the Sun Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is about Akhenaten and the Amen Ra dynasty which was the first individual in history to develop worship of the sun and to stress the importance of distancing philosophical interpretation of literal worship to rational worship without understanding how the literal entity (in this case the sun) delivered life. This notion in turn lead to the birth of science in the experiments of alchemy (which was deemed witchcraft by the church), Giordano Bruno's interplanetary theories (which he was burnt at the stake for and why there is a statue devoted to him in Italy in the presence of the Vatican) and eventually Einstein's theories which solidified science as the general acceptance of life's origins. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – If I Had A Tail Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is about a sociopath who lusts for and acheives action, sex and substance abuse in an urban setting but who doesn't want the reality of his or her actions to compromise his or her conscious. If the actions are contemplated the addiction ceases to exist and life becomes mundane. The person is the metaphysical interpretation of a "monster" hence the notion "If I Had A Tale". The ending is surrealistic in the portrayal of the literal manifestation of the monster by association of the sounds of the sociopath meta-morphing into the anthropomorphic representation. | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – I Appear Missing Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is about unrequited love and the hardships of an emotionally fragile person dealing with the consequences of said rejection. | |
| Grinderman – Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The lyrics are rural and simplistic like most Nick Cave. It doesn't take much to realize this since his name is of the cromagnon persuasion. But this is a site in which songs must be deciphered symbolically. It's about two hoodlum brothers attempting to rape an innocent girl who fell in with the wrong group of people. How tragically hip. | |
| Red Lorry Yellow Lorry – Talk About The Weather Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song is about unrequited love. To those who like this song and it's meaning I recommend the "Boy Meets Girl" by Leos Carax, which was released at the same time as this record. | |

Frank Black enjoys surrealist films, he's referenced Luis Bunuel & Salvador Dali's "Un Chien Andalou" in Debaser and this can be construed as another example. In Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1932 surrealist film "Vampyr" a young traveller Allan Grey arrives in a remote castle and starts seeing weird, inexplicable sights (a man whose shadow has a life of its own, a mysterious scythe-bearing figure tolling a bell, a terrifying dream of his own burial). Things come to a head when one of the daughters of the lord of the castle succumbs to anaemia - or is it something more sinister? As loud as hell A ringing bell A mysterious scythe-bearing figure tolling a bell. Behind my smile One of the daughters of the lord of the castle succumbs to anaemia. Look at her smile in this scene... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_v94HclVn6hA/RtRYIJD4r-I/AAAAAAAAALY/pVG7YhkS0zY/s400/vampyr12.jpg It shakes my teeth And all the while As vampires feed I bleed Prithee my dear Why are we here Nobody knows We go to sleep As breathing flows My mind secedes I bleed Theres a place In the buried west In a cave With a house in it In the clay The holes of hands You can place A hand in hand CosmicWolfy is correct in his analysis of the latter part of the song when he states... Well, I don't think the whole song is about vampires. In fact, the last verse sounds like it's about the Anasazi cliff dwellings in the southwest US. Closing: I read an interview in which Black confirms the Anasazi cliff dwelling inspiration. |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Big Bang Baby Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| "TakeMeTo1994" I came to this conclusion the first time I heard the song, it's not my spin on the matter and it's sort of revealing that someone else thought the same concerning the song's meaning don't you think? | |
| Stone Temple Pilots – Big Bang Baby Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Scott Weiland was a guest on Rockline the same day Layne Staley passed away and when the news broke the DJ asked Weiland's thoughts to which he replied "at least I still have all my teeth". Sorry kids; longtime music fan. I know my stuff. | |

I got a picture of a photograph of a wedding and a shell it's just a burning aching memory I never kiss and tell Reference to the marriage of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. so turn it up and burn it there's a hole in your head there's a hole in your head where the birds can't sing along Reference to Kurt Cobain's suicide and the music video for "Heart Shaped Box" in which crows move their mouths to the lyrics. does anybody know how the the story really goes how the story really goes or do we all just hum along Reference to Kurt Cobain's cryptic & surreal lyrics which are usually open for interpretation. sell your soul and sign an autograph Reference to Kurt Cobain's hatred of commercialism. big bang baby it's a crash, crash, crash I wanna cry but I gotta laugh orange crush mama it's a laugh laugh laugh Asshole Scott Weiland mocking the death of Kurt Cobain much like he did Layne Staley shortly after he passed away. Weiland's resentment of the much talented Nirvana & Alice In Chains stems back to the early 90's scene in which Stone Temple Pilots were seen as imitators instead of contemporaries. spin me up spin me spin me out station to station send me up and out is that what life and love is all about I think I think so Reference to Kurt Cobain's experiment with commercialism and his unexpected rise to fame. we used to see in color now it's only black and white yeah it's only black and white because the world is color blind nothing's for free nothing's for free take it away boys nothing's for free nothing's for free take it away boys Reference to Kurt Cobain's guilt towards achieving financial success when he clearly hated the thought of it. In short this is an example of an excellent band "Stone Temple Pilots" acting ridiculously disrespectful to the memory of a better musician. |

| The lyrics to this song very closely resemble the plot to Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1932 surrealist film "Vampyr". | |
