The first time I heard this song, it hit me pretty hard. A lot of emotions came out that I was already feeling, but being a typical guy don't like to show.
To me, the song is about, like many have already said, an ex and feelings for that person after things have fallen apart.
About a year ago I met my most recent ex, the one I thought, and still think is perfect for me. We had both been hurt prior to meeting each other, so we decided to take things slow...good move. About 3 months after talking and dating she lets me know that she still has feelings for the guy that hurt her, so she leaves me for him. You can imagine the pain I felt. Well, that was that, but ever since then I haven't been able to move on (I know, 9 fucking months. C'mon), but no one gets me like she did. Now her and the guy she left me for are separated and I'm here trying to think of a way to get her back.
My favorite line from this song is the first one: "The perfect words never crossed my mind, 'cause there was nothing in there but you..." That's the exact same way I felt about her.
Snow Patrol did a great job with this song IMO. I don't listen to them a whole lot, but when I heard this I was just like, "Yes" Great song. I heard it at the most perfect time. Cheers. |

I totally agree with jrd33! Me and my girlfriend have been through some fights and arguements recently. I have no intention of letting her go. Not everything is gonna be perfect in a relationship. It all starts out as coal, but as time goes on it gets better and better and becomes a diamond. Incubus is amazing, this has to be in my top 5 favorite by them. |

Wow, seriously? This song has no comments.. This is a great song. Me and my girlfriend arent doing to good at the moment, I'm scared to death of losing her. She had me listen to this song a couple of days after we started dating. We would fall asleep to this song all the time. This song keeps me going and reminds me of all the good times we had, and hopefully will still have.. |

I agree with everyone that said this song is talking about the feeling right before a break-up. Im going through this right now.. It's really hard and I'm doing everything I can to stay with her, but the feeling that you get right before the break-up is all I'm feeling right now.. This song is like the perfect song for me right now.. Matchbox 20 is amazing! |
