| Cradle of Filth – Nemesis Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Exactly... Cradle of Filth songs are generally ballads... stories and this song seems to be telling the story of a man out to seek revenge over the death of his daughter. | |

This is such an amazing song and lyrically and musically. I think it is so wonderful because it is one of those songs where four different people can listen to the song any get four different interpretations... and in my opinion that is the sign of a true lyricist. I got this song on the first time... and for me it was simple because i related to it so much. Basically for me the song is about wanting to cut the want ,the longing and desire for this guy she obviously had a relationship with or possibly just a fling of some sort. She wants to change the way she is and stop feeling so distraught over it because she feels as though he has this power over her. But in the last verse she decides if she cant change... and she cant stop feeling this way... why not make his life a living hell as well? I can't change I'll replace the decay make you second guess your everyday I can't change I'll survey the damage Kill the narcissist with his reflection until tomorrow There are several ways she could be going about doing this... and im not all to sure... as it says she could be using his narcissism to destroy him. She could be making him jealous... im not sure that is the authors secret and that makes a song special. Very awesome |

| The Dresden Dolls – Half Jack Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i don't know why every song meanings site i go to somebody comes up with the brilliant idea that this song is about a hermaphrodite.Jesus! I wish people would stop taking lyrics so literally. In my opinion this song is about how she has many noticeable and probably negative traits given to her father. Not only does she dislike the fact that they maybe a disadvantage but maybe he abandoned her and she hates him for it and her resemblance of him is a constant reminder of everything she hates. | |

| First of all, i think that people need to stop taking lyrics so damned literally. Just because the song says something about an unborn child ,it doesn't mean he knocked up a chick. I do however believe this song is about someone contemplating suicide. The "unborn child" is a reference to anyone born to this world, telling them basically "be innocent for as long as you can" obviously the protagonist of this narrative song is facing problems dealing with a major change from that of his childhood to adulthood. He is still "swimming in the ashes" of his childhood perhaps regretting his ill-willed decisions that robbed him from his childhood early. This is just my personal interpretation of the song. Songs like this can be written to relate to anyone's situation and that's why i love them so much. | |
| A Perfect Circle – The Outsider Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song IS about more than a poser that wants attention. From the lyrics you know that the song is obviously about someone with problems, but the title "the outsider" is was what tied the whole meaning together for me. "the outsider" isn't speaking of the "suicidal imbecile" but rather the narrator of the song. What the song is saying is that the speaker of the song is on the outside of the situation and does not understand what the person he or she is speaking of is going through. APC s basically describing in this song the perspective of the world's view of someone dealing with depression, mental illness, or suicidal thoughts. They do not understand why someone would feel that way or make the irrational and sometimes detrimental decisions that a person with a mental disorder does. | |
| Tool – Aenema Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| For the most part all of your interpretations sucked, except for maybe the very valid point TremorControl stated about Bill Hicks. If you are familiar with Tool as far as influences go, you should know that Bill Hicks was a comedian whose ideas strongly impacted Tool's music. He was pretty much Keenan's idol. But the song is based on an act that Bill Hicks did speaking of the latter. And yes, latealiss i DO believe this song has a hidden message. See if you ever listened to any of Tool's music, their music questions God and religion alike. I would believe that most likely Keenan was an agnostic at the time this song was written and therefor, wasn't really a believer in Armageddon, but was so sick of the shit in this world that he was wishing for the whole story to be true, just so it could take him away from the "bullshit three ring circus sideshow" known as life. I believe also that when he said "Mom". It wasn't like a metaphor for mother nature or anything like that. I believe he literally meant his mom. Why? Because his mom was very religious and when he says "Mom flush it all away" I think he's basically saying "Mom even though i never believed you before about the whole rapture bullshit before please be right so i can get out of this fucking hell hole" That's what i think i maybe a little off but don't kid yourself i did make some very convincing points. This is probably my favorite song of all time. Love it!!! | |
