| Rush – Kid Gloves Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I believe that this song is about people who can't grow up and mature. Their lack of responsibility, outlook on life and habits (like being a "tough" guy, the class clown or a drama queen) from their adolescence stay with them through adulthood. That is, however, until they realize that the way they're living is negatively affecting themselves and others and make the decision to change. | |
| Victor Wooten – Me and My Bass Guitar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is a really fun song, I had a great time submiting these lyrics. I may have gotten some parts wrong and I left out a lot of the talking in the background (it was way too hard to hear and too much to write down), so if you think I messed up rather badly, write a comment saying so. I really don't know who was talking and singing backup so I left that out in the accompanying artist section, so comment on that if you know who everyone was. This is one of my favorite Victor Wooten songs in which he sings. It really shows how well Vic can groove as well as how righteous his percussive playing technique is. I always want to sing along when I hear this song come on, well except maybe the jiggle butt part (at least that's what I think they're saying...), it's just so catchy and upbeat. If you're looking for some insight on the personality of one of the world's best bassists, look no further. You can really tell that Victor Wooten has good sense of humor as well as a relentless amount of dedication towards his craft from this song. I can't help but have the utmost respect for this guy. |

| Rush – Malignant Narcissism Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Malignant Narcissm- introverted feelings that spread exponentially. This song was created when Rush was simply jamming together, I believe it was just Neil and Geddy. Neil had his 5-piece set that he has for just such a session (it's hard to haul that giant drumkit everywhere) and Geddy was trying out the brand new fretless Jaco Pastorius artist model bass. They were just jamming and this little ditty came into being. Rush felt that it was too short and that they had enough instrumentals on Snakes and Arrows, but their manager really liked it so they recorded it, with Alex composing a guitar part to go with it. Thus the song that boasted the best bassline of the year by a magazine for bassists was born. *The most impressive part of this song was that it was played on a five-piece drumset and a fretless bass guitar. These are not only very limiting and difficult instrument setups, but also different from what the artists normally play on live and on recordings. Yet despite all of this the song is amazing.* Mr. Lee, Mr. Peart, Mr. Lifeson, even though I am quite young and I have grown up in an atmosphere where rock was looked down upon and hip-hop and rap dominated what everyone "cool" listened to in school, bands like Rush and people like my older sister helped to get me into real music and become a musician. Everytime I pick up my Geddy Lee artist model bass and look upon the wall of posters of bands that have inspired me, a deep feeling of humility wells up within me as I hope that the slightest bit of musical genius from these artists will be passed on to me. Rock on Rush. |

| Rush – Digital Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Tell me that opening bassline doesn't get you hyped! Before reading the interpretations on this site, I thought the song someone who had to live in a very modern and high-tech world in order to keep up with his job and to appear hip to his friends and girlfriend. However, he dreams of escape from this digital world for the older, analog world that is filled with romance and fantasy. | |
| Rush – A Passage To Bangkok Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
*sigh* The members of Rush take more aspirin and arthritis medication than pot nowadays... The first time I got high was at a Who concert when the guy sitting next to me in the nose-bleeds, a really old hippie-looking guy, was blazing like crazy. He smoked so much I got a second-hand high, got all giggly and I can't remember much of the concert. I vowed that I would not smoke pot at a concert ever because of the ordeal, and prefer to go to open air venues as well. I don't condemn the drug, but I just can't stand the memory loss. *I love the part right before the solo...* |

| Rush – Mystic Rhythms Lyrics | 16 years ago |

First off, anyone who hasn't seen the music video should check it out. It's pretty cool stuff. This song is so epic and spacey sounding it sends chills down my spine. There's awesome drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, vocals, I really don't see why anyone could really hate the song unless they hate Rush... The lyrics escape me quite a bit... I can never quite put my finger on what it all means in collaboration. It certainly makes me think about our existence as human-beings and the secrets of the universe that our primative minds can barely tap into. There is a bit of talk about instinctual behavior in this song. Stuff like animals leaving an area before disasters and people having gut feelings that end up saving their lives have always amazed me. The only part of the song that I have even the slightest idea of its meaning is the third paragraph/stanza. I believe that it speaks of science fiction connecting to science. For example, we recieve so little information about life on other planets (and its far from sentient life), and yet we create so many fantasies and stories about interplanetary aliens and space travel, etc. At one point, the scientific proof that drove us to continue on has been overshadowed by what we have created out of our imaginations. ...my idea is probably completely wrong though. *I truly feel like a mystic whilst listening to this rythmn.* |

| The Police – King Of Pain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
In my opinion, Sting is not the one feeling all the pain. He could be looking at everyone around himself and around the world and see their suffering and with this observation he comes to the conclusion that, in the long run, he is helplesss to end their misery. All he can do is lay back and except this. As a king must deal with his subjects the singer deals with all the pain as if it was his job. There are also many references to nature in the song, showing that pain exists naturally without human interaction and that the writer believes that it cannot be taken away with human interaction. These are my opinions, I don't believe that they are the complete truth (and may not show any whatsoever), so don't condemn my ideas for I do not condemn anyone else's. *This song is pretty fun to sing and play bass to.* |
