Does anybody else think that this song and its lyrical content may have been foreshadowing that Mike would leave the band 5 years later?
I mean, his stated reasons for leaving were essentially that it was taking too much out of him and he didn't have time for his family... the "DT Machine" was burning him out or whatever... and I'm sure ungrateful fans didn't help.
Does anyone else agree with this? |

Interesting interpretation, I only want to point out though that your referral to an "incident" is inaccurate, because although the album's theme is The Incident, SW has made it very clear that the whole point of the double-cd is that the 4 songs on Disc 2 have nothing at all to do with the "incident" theme expressed in disc 1. So I just wanted to point that out.
Otherwise, your interpretation is as good as any. This song is cryptic. |

I can't get over how much the verse of this song sounds like Tool... and it sounds great! And I looked it up and indeed Tool are one of their influences. I didn't think this band could get more awesome but I guess I was wrong. |

This song definitely seems to be about the impending birth of a child, or of multiple children, in the future. "I saw the future and it's breeding", "the cells divide and grow inside you", etc.
To go along with the bitter stage of relationship breakup theory, this would simply add an element of an unborn child to the story. However, IMO the song seems to be centered around the issue of the unborn baby, so if SW really did say in an interview what znoahmarhoadskill said than he definitely way oversimplified it.
Anyway, this is a great song and it's specific meaning still baffles me. And I like the misleading title :-) |

Aniland and Dingo666 both your points are really good, I agree that thats probably waht it's about
But why the namesake? These lyrics seem to have practically nothing in common with the Black Dahlia murder... |

I heard this song is comprised of real messages that PoS asked fans to leave on "god's message machine," a telephone number they provided. There were tons of responses, and they chose the best. Makes the song a lot better when you think of that, makes it more genuine. |

I think the chorus, musically, is a mockery of the song America from West Side Story. It sounds very similar to it, and the happy-go-lucky nature is clearly sarcastic; otherwise it would be very unlike PoS |

As you guys said, this song is pretty obvious, but it's done in a great way. Most basically, I love the irony: The song IS a rap song, and it's about the rap and hip-hop scene. So they wrote a rap song 100 times better to show how bullshit it is.
I'm interested in what they mean by "Redefining Vomitorium" (its spelled wrong in the lyrics). A vomitorium is a crowd exitway in a Roman amphitheater, but it's obviously used symbolically here... Like, how hip hop artists just come in and out of the mainstream? |
