This song screams depression, the word umbra can mean shadow world, a region of shadow, many things, but always shadow is the common factor. The singer is confused and just feels like giving up, lyrics such as "No one knows why, no one can forgive, Second thought, why do I care" and "Hey, it's nothing that you'd understand" and talk about sleeping till sober again. Constant contradictory and negative lyrics imply that the singer doesn't believe anything is working and this is shown again by the lyrics "And just when I think I've worked it out, These pieces move and I'm back to the start" |

This song appears very religious on the surface, with the references to god, 'the wine we swallow' and 'we will awake the snake and follow', ' I will not let a saviour define my freedom'. So to me it feels very much like going against the view of religion and why does everyone keep following blindly and to 'Ask the question' maybe why, how, what? That's just me, but I love the 2nd verse, powerful lyrics. |

Love this song, to me it's about two people most likely friends who are used to being around one another 24/7, one however is manipulative and therefore they're breaking apart as friends and I feel it's about getting used to being by yourself instead of just going along with it. Hence the repeated lyrics of 'hey is this the end of all I know' and 'Are you with me?' |
