I've got to take issue with these lyrics. "I never meant to brag, but I've got him where i want him now. To steal it all away from you now" No, that's EXACTLY what (the singer) wanted to do. BRAG ! 1) she's singing about it (bragging) 2) And she's rubbing it in the loser's face. (essentially saying..look what you lost and it feels so great...nyahhh nyahhh nyahhh) Aside from that i really like the song, but the hypocrisy sometimes irks me. Ive got to strongly disagree. A different musical style does NOT mean that they suck. They seem to be able to play their instruments fairly well. Perhaps you feel the songs are simplistic. Yes they are. But that doesn't mean they suck. After reading your profile i now realize you are only 16 (since you were born in 1994.) To see the progression as the years go by. up to February of 2010. I think of this post as a message in a bottle. 1) will anyone read it? and 2) when ? a month from now ? and year from now ? Sometimes i forget just how good U2 is. And i wonder "why don't i listen to them more often ? " I did just that last Friday at work and said to myself, I'm gonna import all of U2's Cd's onto my Ipod. In the process of doing this i played this song. and i thought "i need to express to the world how good i think this song and this band is." it is most definitely a love song, but what an incredible and passionate expression of a love song ! You hit the nail on the head. The song is actually quite offensive but the target audience is not for anyone over the age of 20 (Max) It's primarily teens that are driving this frenzy. I suspect they have no idea of the true meaning of the lyrics, like the implication you should have sex like Helen Keller and be blind and deaf and not question why or who. My main beef with the song is its annoying. I will give the band credit for some catchy lyrics and being able to disguise such a misogynistic message so cleverly. |

| This band is fairly talented lyrically but the music is fairly horrible. The play it on the radio station at work about once an hour and i have to listen to this crap between 5 to 8 times every night. I'm strongly considering breaking the office radio. I'm writing this comment (oddly) exactly 2 months after my previous post. Sometimes i feel i really need to hear this song. its almost like a salve on my soul. Those soothing harmonies caress my ears and brain. Actually i feel this way about Smeared as a whole. I also find it very interesting how a small set of favorite artists dominate my musical attentions. Sloan is one of those artists. |

Muse is very slowly getting recognition here in the US but in some ways I'm fine with that simply because fame/money/popularity often corrupts a band from the music that originally made them great. I was VERY pleased when i heard this release after Symmetry and Absolution. But fortunately they still have the desire to make good music. |
