I'm sure it's going to be revelatory when the official lyrics are shown, as I found multiple places that all had different lyrics. Whether a few different words or phrases to entirely different stanzas, it was all varied. So I won't submit my own interpretations or guesses, but before the full album arrives in October 2012 I'm interested in the final report. |

Got a boat load of corrections for this. I print them our last night and wanted to memorize the lyrics so I could actually sing to them but I immediately noticed many mistakes. So I grabbed the paper insert for my This Is Happening vinyl album and here are a bunch of corrections. "Present company accepted" -> "Present company excepted" (The first one) "Killing it with inspecting" -> "Killing it with inspection" "Arguments are make from make outs" -> "Arguments are made for make-ups" "We've got to bring our results" -> "We've got to bring the resources" "I wanna play it 'til the time comes" -> "I'm gonna play until the time comes" "But there's a string of divorces" -> "Forget your string of divorces" "You go and throw your little hands up" -> "Just go and throw your little hands up, it's late" (extra lyric at the end) "I miss the way the night comes" -> "I miss the way the night goes" "They're throwing marks into pieces" -> "You're blowing Marxism to pieces" "Baby, they're arguments, the pieces" -> "Their little arguments to pieces, show" (extra lyric at the end) "Work a little bit" -> "Put your little feet down" (otherwise he has nothing to say during the long note) "Make me into bigger pieces" -> "Break me into bigger pieces" "It's as though he's home with you" -> "So some of me is home with you" "And we can make our dreams come true" -> "And we can make our bad dreams come true" "...a-go" -> "...a go" (x2) "And we can miss the best thing to do" -> "And we can miss the best things to do" "They're throwing marks into pieces" -> "And blow Marxists into pieces" "Maybe they're arguments, the pieces" -> "Their little argument to pieces" (singular argument) "We should try a little harder" -> "Wish you'd try a little harder" Then the lyrics should be accurate. There was actually a little bit of ad-lib in the recording compared to the written lyrics. It was written as "my friends know how to make it feel good", but the one written here "with friends who always make it feel good" is definitely the way I heard it. |

Wow, spend all this time transcribing the lyrics from the album insert. Submit them here and it's immediately hidden: "Due to copyright restrictions, we are not authorized to display these lyrics." For a defunct band their label sure is concerned about their copyright with the song's lyrics. "They are notable for their heavy use of the Echoplex, used primarily on vocals but on other instruments as well. This often renders the lyrics unintelligible; Miller claims to not remember the lyrics after putting an album together." |

Donnie Darko? What? Well, while something-something-something "time arrow" may be a match, it's not really about time travel. The demo version of this song has different lyrics that are decidedly less mysterious (and not as good). Look it up on YouTube or something, but originally the lyrics went differently. Also, this may double as a lyric correction, as the one here has a typo or two. Album version (taken directly from the vinyl fold): "Overhead ether flow, moment colours run. Time, so slow. I've never seen the arrow of time fly so, low. And time flows on." Demo version: "When I'm not with you time seems to go So slow I don't need the bold flow of time, no (?) Oh no. And time flows on." Yeah, the demo version's first line has a few too many syllables and feels a little crowded. This is more simple, about it sucking when his lady friend isn't around to spend time with him. |

| Just Google a sentence out of the quote he has and you should find the forum that has it (I'm trying to avoid putting a URL here). For instance, I Googled "I have a tooth obsession. I've had everything done to my teeth" and it got me the source. It's from a magazine article in 1993 that some dude transcribed and scanned for a web forum in October 2008. It's all about the making of Return to Sky Valley. Very interesting read! | |
