I don't agree with LightofAugust above. I think the song is written for/sung to a dying parent or grandparent. The guilt about leaving home and/or only visiting on Sundays. The guilt about being bored, while other's time is limited. ' Look around and watch your children grow' .... it brings me to tears. Beautiful. |

I do also think it's about an abusive relationship from which she escapes. How? I do not know: suicide? running off? But the lyrics are breathtaking, so poetic. "She's gone, vanished in the night; broke off the logic of life" I want this to be my epitaph! |

This song is also to be played at my funeral (not that I am dying, but just in case...). To me the song means on the one hand that when someone dies you are left behind (alone), but in our memories,dreams and/or offspring we wil always be together. On the other hand it means to me that we are born alone, die alone and the time inbetween is spent together with the ones we love. Havo no idea if the authors meant this, but it's what it means to me. And if my friends and family don't like them logdrummers at a funeral... well though! It's my party and I cry if I want to! And every time I hear this song I do! |
