Nirvana – Territorial Pissings Lyrics 8 years ago
This song references multiple aspects of the RPG Tabletop game Paranoia.
"Just because you're paranoid
Doesn't mean they're not after you." was one of it's trademark slogans. Also, being forced to smile as a slave was a running theme ("smile on your brother" thing in the beginning). I think Kurt mixed the Paranoia RPG game with his distaste for unhealthy religion and wrote a song about it.

Nine Inch Nails – Copy of A Lyrics 8 years ago
At the beginning of the movie Fight Club, the narrator refers to life as an office worker as being a "copy of a copy". He goes on to do something more with his life.

Austin Roberts – Daydreamin' (The Ostrich Song) Lyrics 8 years ago
It's about an unhealthy relationship. The person sacrifices everything to be with an "ostrich" who then pulls the person further from reality.

Nirvana – Come As You Are Lyrics 8 years ago
I think it's about Courtney Love pushing him to be famous when he didn't really want to. Soaked in bleach could be referring to bleached hair.

The Police – Synchronicity I Lyrics 15 years ago
I never really thought this song was that good until i tried drumming to it! Dang it's fast, the whole way through!!! His drumming was like the precursor for that new, almost-off-beat, metal stuff...

Hey... whatever Copeland is doing at the beginning of this song makes it worth the whole album! That guy is such an amazing drummer!

The Police – Can't Stand Losing You Lyrics 15 years ago
These lines just crack me up :D

"I see you've sent my letters back
And my LP records and they're all scratched"

This song reminds me of a friend, and well... me as well! It's just funny how one person can be in love and the other not care at all- Sting sounds so confused in this song like... "my LP's are all scratched???" It's horribly funny, though I feel for him...

The Police – Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic Lyrics 15 years ago
Honestly, I used to hate this song, though i love the Police. Then I heard it on the radio much later and I just love the ending of it:

"Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing she do is magic, magic, magic"

Sting's just singing "magic... magic... magic..." but Copeland's just rockin' those drums! Really, it's too bad that so many drums are compressed and brickwall limited so that amazing drumming like at the end of this song goes un-noticed!

I just love drumming along to this song...maybe someday I'll actually be able to keep up with Copeland... :D

The Police – Don't Stand So Close To Me '86 Lyrics 15 years ago
what??!?!?!?! this song has an amazing feel to it... just the beginning is messed up with the whacked out drum solo and all... their drummer like broke his neck so he couldn't drum and he quickly learned to program a little drum machine... the hi-hat sounds absolutely AMAZING, but then Copeland always had a knack for a good sounding bass drum/hi-hat rhythm...

The Police – Every Breath You Take Lyrics 15 years ago
The police had a way with writing creepy, double meaning songs that made you go like: "what if it's actually a stalker and not ____________!" (cold war, parents...) Angels and Airwaves saw this trait and copied it in their song "sirens"...

Van Halen – Right Now Lyrics 15 years ago
Probably sounds stupid, but this song is really motivational to me and reminds me (metaphorically) of a little kid disabling an Earth-destroying nuke! "gotta turn this thing around..." i know it sounds stupid...

"It means everything "

"It's right now
Tell me, what are you waiting for
Turn this thing around"

really a great song.

Angels and Airwaves – Breathe Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is very interesting because of it's saddened calmness- compared to the rest of the album! I used to hate this song...thinking it was just some stupid "i love you" song. Now after listening to it more and reading others opinions, i believe it's about an abusive dad who has a mental illness and wants to be a good person, but just can't. This twist got me into the song for some reason (well, i can sorta relate to having an abusive parent) but i guess it's that "oh let's write a love song...BUT THE DAD IS ACTUALLY ABUSIVE AND CHEATING ON HIS WIFE!" it's actually really sad, but kinda lets you into the dad's point of view...the way he says "i love you" Tom says it on and on... just like a crazy dad who's hiding something...all this person cares about is himself...he doesn't really "love her". You know, the thought came to me...Maybe Tom wrote this about his dad?

"hear this the first time..." so...demanding for a supposed love song...

I love how "love like rockets" is right after breath...it's like "here's how it was in my family...and here's how life CAN be!" only if you wanna believe...(wrong song..i know...dang i'm just in a AvA mood...) :)
