It's interesting that someone said Elton was probably singing this to a boyfriend but i did some research and it turned out when he first sang this song, he was thinking of one of his girlfriends. He shyly said to her once that Bernie wrote it for his girlfriend but when he was singing it, he was thinking about her. |

Elton titled this song Your Song so that it wouldn't have to be about just one person which is what Bernie Taupin meant it to be. Elton dedicated it to Princes Diana just like it and Tiny Dancer were written about Taupin's first wife. Elton has also dedicated this song to Elizabeth Hurley, dueted it with Ronan Keating and random audiences when he was still bisexual. This song used to be about anyone who listens to it but now it's only about David Furnish since Elton renounced his bisexuality for him. |

This song is George Michael's plea to a straight guy to have sex with him which explains the line "I'm not your brother, i'm not your father" though people thought it was about a girl at the time cuz he wasn't out of the closet yet and the music video was intentionally misleading."I'm not your brother, i'm not your father" means that some straight guys are straight cuz they think there's something incestous about a guy on guy so he's trying to convince him that it's not and "I can't take much more girl, i'm losing control" means he had a gf[the one in the video]and he was in the closet and wasn't able to handle it anymore. |

This song is about Elton's break up with his fiancee Linda Woodrow, the lines "You know you can't hold me forever, i didn't sign up for you, i'm not a present for your friends to open" were directed at her how she was trying to force him into a wedding and making him play piano at parties she hosetd showing him off to her social scene. The lines before that were about his music career not taking off and how everything was going wrong in his life and how he should've listened to his dad and stayed home. The line "This boy's too young to be singing the blues" was about record companies refusing to accept him because of his age(they also wouldn't have accepted him if he was out of the closet)The chorus is about his mom and step dad coming to Elton and Linda's house in Liverpool to take him home. I think the Yellowbrick road is the yellow line you see on any road and it also symbolised his journey to fame with the emerald city being Las Vegas. i think the line about vodka and tonics might be about his drug addiction and "Maybe you'll get a replacement, there's plenty like me to be found" is about him breaking up his songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin who he was secretly in love with |

i think this song is about a man engaged to a woman but calls off the wedding hence the bells at the beginning cuz he realises he actually doesn't love this woman and needs to have faith that he'll find someone else in the future even though she could've quite possibly been the only chance for him to settle down with someone in life. i think this song might be about a much younger girl who George Michael fell in love with and promised would spend the rest of his life with till the end of time and they start a physical relationship when she finally reaches the age of consent only to realise that they've both changed. Georgie had turned gay which was the biggest change of all and he eventually dumps her, not sure if he came out to her but simply said i'm not the man you want. I think this song might also be about regret over letting someone go. |

This song is about how George Michael never had a father figure in his life because his dad was a dick. I unfortunately can relate to this song cuz i've never had one either even though i've had a dad and step dad. I like the idea of this song being about a much younger girl who he promised would live with untill the end of time as soon as she becomes the age of consent and that Older is the sequel to this song but i don't know how it can apply to the fact that Georgie never had a father figure unless the girl also had a bad father and he promised he would take care of her like her dad never did and that she wouldn't grow up the way he did, without a father figure. Another idea i have is that it's about a much older man he dated who was like a replacement to his dad. |

This page is missing alot of lyrics at the beginning of the song, it starts with "Close friend of mine" then something else then "fell into a slumber" then "no sign of life since 75" then it continues with "Then one day he just, what do you know" As for the meaning, i heard this song was about his relationship with Elton John but iunno if by relationship it meant just a friendship or a boyfriend cuz i can't find any proof that says they dated. It's true that Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics but Elton dedicated this and Your Song to Princess Diana at a memorial service [Goodbye England's Rose was also played of course]so i think each of them had different women in mind during the writing of these songs. |
