I have a heart condition called A-fib. It's basically your heart getting out of rhythm. When it happens you can tell, your heart will feel like it's just shaking or sometimes it even feels like it's flopping around. If you put your hand on your chest you can feel it from the outside. Then I start having panic attacks causing me to shake all over. It won't kill you but it will make you think your dying. My wife can tell when it's happening now, so she calms me down and reminds me that I'm fine and I'm going to be fine. I'm going to have my heart shocked in about a month. This is supposed to be like a reset for it.
Probably not what the song is about but there are definitely a lot of parallels in this song.

I think this song is about a vampire. Hanging upside down like a bat. In 1995 he wears the same clothes because he is ageless? Trying to make it through the night without being bitten perhaps? Anyways this song is haunting and chilling in a awesome way! Love it! |

I am shocked that no thinks this song is about smoking pot (budd)! Why do you get turned down for a job? What is in your eyes? (Red, glazed, or dilated). You could be free. (Legalize pot). Some people grow pot in the dark to make it grow faster.

This song is a strange departure from other songs by The Church, but I love listening to it cranked up loud. The drums in this song are kinda tribal sounding. I don't think this song is about drugs but could surely be drug induced. |

The first time I heard this song was 1988. I remember thinking that this song was perfect in every way. After buying the album, I realized I would be a fan of The Church for life. Now after 20 years I am still a fan. This song is amazing and timeless.
As far as the meaning of this song to me. It used to be my theme song; always close to true love but never quiet there. I am married now but I played this song for my wife when we first started dating and it is still a special song to both of us. |
