New Moon interpretation:
This song reminds me most of the chapter when Edward is in Volterra and Bella is racing through the city to find him before he unveils himself as a vampire. Edward is going to walk into the sunlight at noon, when the "sun is perched at its highest peak in the middle of the day," and Bella has to stop him before "everything ends"...meaning everyone will find out he's a vampire and the Volturi will kill him. |

I definitely agree with the drug addiction/suicide interpretation. I think the repetition of "one" is referring to pills of some kind that do different things for him, making him feel highs and lows. His addiction is to the point where he needs drugs to function--to help him talk and sleep, and for the things he's responsible for in life--his wife and job.
"I'm gonna put my family back together again" led me to think it could possibly be from a father's perspective. His own drug addiction is tearing his family apart, and the only way to end it is with suicide. He's felt dead inside for so long, his soul was "yours to have long ago," possibly God?
The part about the ceiling pipe--clear reference to hanging himself and leaving a suicide note.
Very depressing lyrics, yet this song is absolutely beautiful. |

This is such a beautiful song, I can't believe no one has commented on it yet. The lyrics are simple but I think that's what makes it so beautiful. It's about loving someone and wanting nothing else than to be with them, and wanting to be loved and wanted by them as well. |

I adore this song. I love the line "Every word you say I think, I should write down. Don't want to forget come daylight." It's such an amazing feeling when you find someone who you treasure every second you spend with...when all you need to do is lay in bed with that person and it feels like you're on top of the world. That's real love. |
