| Secret Machines – Still See You Lyrics | 17 years ago |

First off, the lyrics are wrong. Here are the correct ones: You know, I still see you everywhere Alone still, you're lying there You're half-asleep in a wedding gown You don't look down at all, and you sigh at me You laughed when I tried to embrace you and hold you still You're drowning in tears and I'm sorry to say they're all mine You know I'll sleep with anyone I still pretend it's you, there's no one like you You know I still I still see you You know I still I still see you You know I still I still see you Now that we have cleared that up, I must say that it's my humble opinion that this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard lyric-wise. Brandon has painted this melancholy, dreamy picture of a broken-hearted guy that has been pretty much jilted by someone that he loved very much and just can't get over. He is remembering perhaps his wedding day that got cut short due to something like a change of heart or something. He thinks of her in every woman that he sees, and perhaps the most gut-wrenching line in the song is where he says that he sleeps with other women and still pretends it's her. The music and the effects on his voice PERFECTLY compliment the melancholy tale of loneliness and heartache. Every time I hear it it reminds me of a personal situation that was somewhat similar, and he was able to put those feelings into words better than anything that I have heard before. Amazing song, amazing band. |
