| Bon Jovi – When We Were Beautiful Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song is amazing!! I am so excited about the new album as Jovi have returned to their rock roots, miles apart from the less than impressive "Lost Highway" album. This is my favourite song on the new album, it is powerful and emotional - he's reminiscing about the past and how good things were back then. He is wishing they could "go back and find it". Jovi you have done it again! :) |

| Midnight Oil – Forgotten Years Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
My favourite song from the Oil's. Love Garret's Aussie accent on the line "Old signatures stained with tears" "These should not be forgotten years" Just brings a shiver to the body, hopefully the generations to come will continue to remember our past and be thankful for what we have today! "It reeks of politics" Ironic, considering Peter Garrett's current occupation. Although his long standing critcism of governments is probably what motivated him to join the political arena, I can see that, it's just that I sometimes think to myself, well you've just gone and joined the same group of people you so publicly disapproved of. He hasn't made any significant moves or changes yet to make me think otherwise. |

| Tonic – Mr. Golden Deal Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Is it true that this song is about the girl who was the inspiration for "If You Could Only See"? She left him for someone else - "Mr Golden Deal" That's what I heard anyway! Great song. Tonic were fantastic at songwriting. |

| Gin Blossoms – Until I Hear It From You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I don't necessarily think it's solely about cheating - it could be about something else that the girlfriend is not telling him about, for example drugs or eating disorders etc. | |
| Gin Blossoms – Hey Jealousy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
IVIoI3iuS - Absolutely! I am so over the current songs these days, they don't seem to have any deep meanings or capable of stirring up powerful feelings. This song does both of those - the evidence of a good song is how everyone can relate to it, on their own personal level. Gin Blossoms are great at doing that! Hey Jealousy is one of their best. I love the desperation in the lyrics, especially the last 2 lines, and how the song finishes quite abruptly, emphasising the pleading state of mind. |

" Sometimes I feel so second-rate Seems loving you was my greatest mistake " Best lines of this song! |

| Cold Chisel – Star Hotel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This was taken from another website, but greatly sums up what this song was written about: "Star Hotel" (1980) captures the mood and events of September 19, 1979, when, in the working-class steel-town of Newcastle, police came to close down the city's main pub-rock venue, The Star Hotel. The police found themselves confronted by an angry crowd spoiling for a fight. Police cars were overturned and set alight in the course of a civil disturbance that echoed convict rebellions of two centuries earlier. The hotel was finally closed down, but the punters had made their point - and Chisel weren't going to let the police forget it. |

P.S. Heard Jimmy sing this live 3 weeks ago, and he was still fantastic. The song is just as powerful now as it was 25 years ago. |

| Cold Chisel – Flame Trees Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
ilovehoratio - "also was it done by jimmy barnes???/ " Jimmy Barnes is the lead singer of Cold Chisel, so he was the original singer of this song. Jimmy still sings it in his solo concerts today... Without doubt, Flame Trees is my favourite Chisel song. The lyrics and melody are so beautiful. I don't necessarily think the song is about mistakes - rather it stirs up feelings of heartbreak and loss, but at the same time warm memories and hope for the future ("Theres a girl she's falling love...") I don't think Don Walker was writing about making a mistake, just different paths in life. |
