Does any one know what "Ran Tan" means? Is it a Britishism? (I'm American) Someone once suggested to me that it meant "'round towning;" running around town. Any one agree? |

I love this song. The images are gorgeous, the tone, the subject matter. all very moving. However, the line "Oh really my dear, I can't see what we fear / sat here with ourselves in between us" makes no sense to me. Am I missing something? Is this some Britishism? (I'm American) |

| Does anybody else feel the anger in this song? Doesn't the kid also feel betrayed by these DJ gods? He turns the station on and says he heard another voice say he was "just too late and just no good." And there is a whole angry tone to the music as well. It makes me think that the DJs were trashing his generation, and I think young person feels betrayed by his DJ heroes. | |

So, I love this song. But I've also got questions. It seems he was with this girl who hurt him and he broke things off. Months later he finds out from her mother that she died. He has regrets that he had not forgiven her before she was gone. I think I get the whole thing until the end. What is the bit about the firemen and the kids? How does this relate to the rest of the story. Was she killed in the fire? Why fire in the CAR ALARM? What dies that mean? Any ideas? BTW, I'm pretty sure it's "Do you even know that you're GONE" (not GOING) This is such an unusual, haunting,moving song. I just wish I got the "fire" part. Gnovi |
