Electric Six – Gay Bar Part Two Lyrics

This is such a great narcissistic song and a great opener to the new album. It's hard to find a line that isn't a self-reference. |

Electric Six – Infected Girls Lyrics

No shit gammafighter.
The line is "call it unprotected, girls"
because he's not wearing a condom, knowingly giving the girls diseases, making them infected.
Dick Valentine is the man. His songs are like venom or something. I'm not quite sure of the message here, I guess its just generally criticizing American sex culture. |

Why? – Sick 2 Think Lyrics
|
my corrections:
Am I sick to think I look best under fluorescent light?
Or in the cramped-corpse light-blue of an airplane bathroom?
In the window pane of a well-lit city bus at night?
Or in the nuclear spill of Don't-Walk-On-John Mushrooms?
Who's gonna shoot me looking serious,
If I don't shoot me looking serious?
In the windowpane of a well-lit city bus at night
Or in the nuclear spill of Don't-Walk-On-John Mushrooms?
Am I sick to think I look best under fluorescent light?
Or in the cramped-corpse light-blue of an airplane bathroom?
That's what that line has always sounded like to me, I don't know. But to me this song is just about confusion with self-confidence, feeling mundane and cold. |

Smog – Let Me See the Colts Lyrics

Yeah I have no clue where gueveralives got that interpretation, I always saw this tune as an expression of self-determination and curiosity. The colts are things in life that can be learned from and taken advantage of, and Bill seems to find this beautiful. Or at least I do. |

Why? – Women Eye, "No." Lyrics

I always thought the line was "all the other women I know like ghosts." but listening to it again it does sound like Dose, as in Doesone. I guess he'd be a catch. |

The Silver Jews – What Is Not But Could Be If Lyrics

I'm not crazy about this song. but then again you probably have to understand all that David's been through to connect to his new, straightforward simplicity. I've always loved his more abstract lyrics. |

Destroyer – Priest's Knees Lyrics

I think this song gets overlooked on rubies. It's a great pop tune that dan somehow manages to make powerfully personal. |

easily the joo's most powerful song. the insturmental at the end somehow culminates all of the beautiful lyrics preceding it. |

Smog – 37 Push Ups Lyrics

To me this has gotta be bill's most menacing and hard-hitting song. It's full of desperation and pathetic stream-of-consciousness. Pretty much just about futility and life's slow descent, like a lot of his earlier stuff. brilliant song. |

Shellac – Copper Lyrics

steve's using copper as a double entedre, but I'm not quite sure for what.
When I hear it I imagine "copper" as a police officer, likening it to one of those big black songs where steve puts himself in someone else's twisted shoes. But I don't see that totally making sense. Just some guy that is apparently too mediocre. |
