i like the comment suggesting that the bitch is a drug, although it's not. i also agree with not having any friends who get ween. i've figured out that its because one song doesn't do it. you need to make them sit and listen to an album from start to finish. whoever this woman is i hope she realizes how loathsome she is and then is blessed with immortality. |

This is one of the most important songs in my life. I first heard it in 2003 during the most painful experience of my life. He fell in love with a girl who was damaged beyond repair. He believed, and made her believe that he could save her "it was dumb i had no sense of your size" Eventually she betrayed his love by cheating. It was dumb to hold so tight I don't know, but last night On your birthday in the kitchen My grip was loose My eyes were open After the betrayal he still wants to be around her even though he won't ever be able to forgive her and its driving him crazy. He now knows all of her, including her "lack of light" he's holding on limply because he can't let go. he needs her to leave and never come back. The last part is self explanatory. 5 years later it doesn't hurt anymore. Where is this extra verse located? On an ep or something? |

i don't know about hamlet but i see what kumokasuni is getting at. I think that the 29 years part, although the end of the song actually refers to how he felt before the love gets lost in drawers, or leans away. I think that the verses are where his relationship is at now and the chorus and 29 yrs part is how he felt when they were happy. I think that he will spend the rest of his life knowing that he will never meet someone like her again and he screwed it up beyond repair somehow. The whole album is wonderful and the best part is how much i want to figure out what it means. It is so engaging. |

| when i first listened to this song i had one of those moments that all music lovers can appreciate. it didn't matter what he meant because it meant something to you based on your life. goosebumps. as far as what the artist inteded i agree with repairman completely. very insightful. but for me it will always be about being selfish and knowing i won't stop. | |
