Sorry Samhain...I believe you got one of the most important aspects/catchiness of the lyrics wrong. It should be Go instead of Don't.

Um, skateboarding?

I know that Mullen is Rodney Mullen, skateboarding legend but not sure who Brian refers to. Was he another member of the Bones Brigade like Mullen?

Teenage Bottlerocket – Bigger Than Kiss Lyrics 2 years ago
Didn't you hear? TB is bigger than Kiss!

I love this song...and I'm a Kiss fan. This is 2 minutes of pure power telling how TB is going to be bigger than Kiss and finally surpassing them as Kiss ages.

Katie,

Read Vanth's comment.

Also...this isn't songfacts.com so there are a lot of people's opinions about what song's mean...or what the song's meant to them.

X – Adult Books Lyrics 3 years ago
I've mulled this over and over since I changed the lyrics...even had my kid listen to it. After years of thinking it's 'All in a line', I changed my mind to 'All in a lie...but now I think that it may be: ...lie, ...lie, ...line

Oh well...lol

X – Adult Books Lyrics 3 years ago
Shouldn't it be 'All in a lie' i/o 'All in a line'?

Don't worry...I'll correct it.

The Angels – Face The Day Lyrics 5 years ago
I always thought that he didn't want to go to work or school...and just face everyday responsibilities. Or he's just crazy and doesn't like the light...like a vampire. Anyway...excellent song...one of my favorite by the Angels. Great White did a pretty good cover of this song as well.

X – I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts Lyrics 5 years ago
In the Woody Gutherie song 'Pastures of Plenty'...there's a line about digging up beets from the ground. So he sang as about the food beets and not beats as in music.

X – Painting the Town Blue Lyrics 5 years ago
Can't believe no one has commented on this yet.

I love the big booming sound of the guitar and the fast shuffling beat of the drum...but the Bukowski-esque lyrics are what make this song so great.

Now for the meaning...is it about one boozy girl with relationship problems? Or is each verse about a different girl? I think that it is about one girl that is trying to get out of her unhappy relationship/life.

Best song on an album loaded with great songs. What a Zeppelinesque ride Candlebox takes us on!

Freezesukka has the meaning down cold. Move it on...down the line.

Candlebox – Far Behind Lyrics 6 years ago
Although I do love this song...it's good..but not great musically. This song takes you right to the edge of really rocking. Rightuptothebrink...but pulls back. I always thought this song should've been a little harder. Likely some decision from the record company...turning it into a power ballad. But don't get me wrong...I still love this song. I just thought that it could've been greater. For a band to write such a great song...only to not hit it out of the park...

There are a few times that Candlebox really excelled at rocking out on their first album...and didn't hold back. To me...most notablely is Rain. You...Don't You and Arrow also come to mind. What a great album this was...I couldn't believe that Candlebox didn't become superstars...

Man...no one commenting on this one. This is one of GD's best songs musically. Mike's bass just tears it up.

And it's about a guy that's stricken with a little panic...

Green Day – 86 Lyrics 6 years ago
I think this song is about GD selling out and signing with a big record company. The lyrics are from the point of view of their old fans.

To be 86'ed is to be kicked out of something. Hence...GD is longer welcome back in their old community.

I think that he's talking about a city. Sadly this song isn't more widely known. The lyrics are clever...especially the chorus. I happened to buy the soundtrack to SWF and this gem (along with Paw doing a great cover of Surrender) was on it.

Almost half of the people who posted replies thus far don't know the meaning of the word 'satire'. Clearly this is what's wrong with our society today. Too many people can't take a joke...or recognize a joke when it pokes them in the face.

American Hi-Fi – Maybe Won't Do Lyrics 7 years ago
Although the lyrics are pretty good...the music is awful...too poppy. If the music was in the same vein like something off of thier first two cds...this would be a great song.

Paw – Jessie Lyrics 8 years ago
I believe that the first line is either:

Play with the dog...play with the dog...play with the dog.

or

Pet the dog...pet the dog...pet the dog.

The second line is bungled up also...

Cheap Trick – Auf Wiedersehen Lyrics 9 years ago
I always thought this song was about a guy committing suicide...but now think that it is a song for people that are about to commit suicide...I guess sung by people that have already committed suicide. This is one of my favorite CT songs...hellothere is right...the last minute of the song is fantastic...right after the drum roll until Zander screams 'Suicide!'. CT at its finest...

INXS – Don't Change Lyrics 9 years ago
To me...it's about a guy that wants a girl to change because of some reason (she's different...maybe she dresses funny...or just something not socially acceptable-something that he thinks may cause people to talk about or treat her badly or him badly for being with her). So when she doesn't change...he becomes bitter... and they split up. But he realizes that the 'sky above won't fall down' if she doesn't change...and people don't treat her or him bad (see/hear no evil in all directions). So he returns to the girl (i.e...finds a love that he had lost)...loses all his bitterness and figures out how to be happy.

Many of us have been there before...going out with someone that the people around us didn't like...and maybe making the person change would make them more acceptable to our inner circle.

Gary Moore – The End Of The World Lyrics 9 years ago
Another song from the 80s...warning us all about the devastation of impending nuclear war. But...the greatness in the song is Moore's guitar work...especially the intro. EVH doesn't have anything on Gary Moore.

Pete Townshend – And I Moved Lyrics 9 years ago
Here's something from the 'Empty Glass' entry on wikipedia for you..." Empty Glass, when compared with The Who's 1981 album Face Dances, was considered the superior album, with many critics calling it a Who album that never was. Roger Daltrey later commented that he felt let down by Townshend, and that many of the songs from the album would have worked well for The Who, among them "Rough Boys" and "Empty Glass"; Townshend countered by saying that he felt "Rough Boys" was the one song Daltrey would have wanted clarified (in terms of the song's homoerotic subtext) and toned down if he were to sing it, thus defeating its message..."

Maybe you are missing the obvious lyrics...or just ignoring them. But nevertheless...'Empty Glass' is a great album.

Pete Townshend – And I Moved Lyrics 10 years ago
I totally agree PNG. I was a naive 15 year old kid when "Empty Glass" came out, and I even caught all the homosexual references littered throughout the album. So it was no surprise when Pete 'came out'.

Now I was always under the impression that this song was about a man taking advantage of a boy...but that the boy didn't mind. And ' As he laid me back just like an empty dress' is such a great lyric...vivid imagery.

soulJIVE! You must be one of my kids. All three of them had to endure multiple playings of the Cult's Electronic album whilst trapped in the back seat. I think that they eventually came to enjoy this album. My favorite memory from this time was them all chanting along with the song 'Peacedog' at the top of their lungs...PEACE DAWG! PEACE DAWG!
