| Anata – Dance To The Song Of Apathy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Musically this isn't the most likeable song of this album, but it certainly has great lyrics! (like the others as well anyway) | |
| Anata – Entropy Within Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sorry AnataFan but I disagree. :) I don't think it's about gossip or whatever, since it is about entropy "Within". It's about fighting depression, or thoughts that drain your energy, and letting go of things that make our lives harder like "fear, rage, pain and jealousy". |
| The Police – Message In A Bottle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song really speaks to me, I can relate to it greatly because I also felt and still feel a bit as if I am the only one caught up with my own insecurity, but it's a good thought to realize that everyone has the same insecurities and same problems that keep us from doing things we really want or really care about. | |
| Lamb of God – Ashes of the Wake Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Weigh: Do the Honorable job of protecting your country by attacking another - Live and let live. Yes... Soldiers are nothing but cannon fodder. |
| Lamb of God – Ashes of the Wake Lyrics | 14 years ago |
One war does not justify another. Saving Europe from the Nazis does not give a wildcard or monopoly on war. Also, mind you that saving Europe in WWII was an act of self-preservation for America, and that's a fact. If Germany would've become mightier than they already were, America would've been doomed as well on the long run. The real motive America declared war on Germany, was when a passenger ship with a few Americans was blown up by German submarines. Of course it is a nice idea that America did it to save Europe, but way to romanticized. Also consider that Extremist-Muslims would not terrorize the Western world if it was not us Westerns who steal their profits and interfere their economies. I don't believe you solve a problem by eradicating any who oppose you, this would be degradation of the evolution of mankind and a degradation of what we know as ethics. The beautiful thing about humans is rather our ability to look further and empathy. Oh well, USA never fails to prove itself looking like a land of barbarians. |
| Lamb of God – Ashes of the Wake Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I rather have a country that goes hating other countries but without doing anything significant than having a self-righteous country coming with deliverance, destroying "maybe" dangerous "enemies". The pretty smile and blue eyes of America don't fool me. Wars only exist due to leaders wanting the same thing, a resource or a piece of land. This expanding is the true face of evil which leads to countless massacres. Can't we all just be nostalgic, love our own country, stay there and put our filthy hands off others? If it were not due to this expanding, extremist-muslims would not even know about the very existence of America and would not attack it. Don't get me wrong, I think USA really believes to be doing the right thing, but the effect - the loss of people's lives - makes one wonder if this is what we really want. |

| Despised Icon – Furtive Monologue Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Also my first thought on the title of the song "Furtive monologue" made me think it could also simply be about someone whispering that he is about to destroy something/someone. | |
| Despised Icon – Furtive Monologue Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is perhaps my favorite song from the album, due to the lyrics. To reply to blacklabel1 it's not just revenge. As the lyrics say: "No retribution Your sorrow's my devotion" If someone saw the video of this song you'll catch me that this is about fighting back at society. "This unspoiled opus wasn't meant to persist eternally" "This unspoiled opus" stands for society, and it wasn't meant to persist eternally. In the video you see a city being destroyed. The protagonist in the story feels like something is out of place, it is being told by "inaudible voice", it is the furtive monologue he needs to destroy society. The protagonist feels like being part of the world that hates humanity destroying the world. The protagonist may also be humanity itself, having to destroy its self-build society eventually. I'm pretty sure they mean society with "this masquerade". It could also be an unspoken subject between people, and people keeping up appearances for it and someone decides he won't be pretentious anymore. |

| Air – Run Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Wow, I have seen many strange/wrong interpretations here. I really don't get how you people get to the holy girl being a "prostitute", or that the guy is actually telling the girl to go/run. This is simply about a guy obsessed by his girl, that he really feels sad when she isn't there anymore, he's so afraid to lose her that a simple departure in the morning hurts. It's getting out of the fantasy you can both have together, and if she leaves, dull life begins again. |
| A-Ha – Hunting High And Low Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Do you know what means to love you?" Almost gives me tears. It's so hard to explain to another how you feel for them. |
| Nile – Masturbating the War God Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think you guys are missing the point of the Phallus thing they use for their lyrics. They didn't mean it to be funny. Instead I kinda think it has to do with the feeling of killing a person while being sexually aroused. It's about ecstasy of killing, and getting cought up in the feeling of the physical world. |
| Queens of the Stone Age – The Sky Is Fallin' Lyrics | 16 years ago |
QOTSA is always such a hypnotic band, especially with the vocals. And ehm, with all due respect, the drummer you guys name, is overrated as HELL. I listen a lot of metal and they have a lot more talented drummers. |

Yeah it's 6/4. Search for the tab on ultimate-guitar.com (lol, I know it's a bit late >_<) |
| A-Ha – Take On Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh by the way I'm also a metalhead, but I'm not the stubborn metalhead to not give in when a song is just brilliantly good. I love anything instrumental, or vocally good. I just have a dislike for electronical music overall because it lacks feeling. Myself, I'm a guitarist, cellist and vocalist. As you can see I also love classical music. ^^ |
| A-Ha – Take On Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh and also the vocalist from Editors is really good but in a different way, he has a very hypnotic voice: Editors - Munich http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xRVm-JX5Rk |
| A-Ha – Take On Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the 80s have plenty epic songs, a lot of bad stuff as well. But man, does Morten Harket have a beautifull voice, really very rare. If you want to hear some other guys with rarely good voices: Opeth, example song: Burden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnD2maKnVBA Actually that is the only one that is nearly as good as Morten. ^^ |
| Editors – Munich Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love the: "With one hand you calm me With one hand I'm still With one hand you calm me With one hand I'm still" Part. I guess it is about how people are fragile and hard to properly get along with, as is shown in the past. |
| Nile – Eat Of The Dead Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I suppose the slow flow of this song suggests the unease of eating something dead. I guess this is simply about the course of life and death, seeing humans simply as food for others, just as other creatures are food for us. |
| Guns N' Roses – One In A Million Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with Sniperwulf, "Immigrants and faggots..." and so on, is just racist, fuck axel rose. There is no excuse or compromise against it, he is an asshole. |
| Textures – Millstone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I would guess this is about aging, and harships of life. Also trying to keep up with life itself. And finding a breathing moment. | |
| Textures – Awake Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'd say it is about dieing. The protagonist very consciously experiences his death, he feels his life slipping away, but he doesn't want to die just yet. He tries to come back alive. This sentence pretty much tells it all: Life is to short to be wrong He doesn't want to die. And I agree with the text. |
| Opeth – Hours of Wealth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Its about someone just being unknown to everyone after being isolated after years. "once i am sure of my task i will arise again" Means this person will come back in society again. I think with this album the story told is not by chronological order. This may be considered after the song Isolation Years. (Thats my interpretation) |
| Opeth – Atonement Lyrics | 17 years ago |
" Suddenly, I can't justify What I had become" just doesn't fit in. It says I CANT justify what I had become. Which to me seems like a bad thing... right? |
| Morbid Angel – Chapel Of Ghouls Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yeah, still don't hope it happens though :P | |
| Morbid Angel – Maze Of Torment Lyrics | 17 years ago |
How about chapel of ghouls and lord of all fevers and plague? Also great songs! and Immortal Rites also very great. |
| The Berzerker – Forever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
No these are actually good lyrics!!! Its about what you see from your sight, thus interpretations. But its from this serial killer. |
| The Berzerker – No One Wins Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| These are actually good lyrics you savages! | |
| The Berzerker – False Hope Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Quite good lyrics actually! Its about why christianity is twisted and not true. I don't like anti-Christianity, let them Christians be. But I must still say these lyrics are very well written, and a good reason for people not to be Christian. |
| Meshuggah – Lethargica Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song makes me think more and more its about a psychopath. They are so nonchalant about killing other persons, as they have no hold to it, nor a real need, they simply kill people in a lethargic way. This song really shows well the way a psychopath acts. |
| Meshuggah – Combustion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Combustion, quite simple: It's a person unleashing his anger. I especially love the sentence: A million degrees on display Now that I think of it, its perhaps a bit less positive in a way, as it is about people being evil. The only positive thing is that it becomes so over obvious that you cannot deny it anymore, thus leaving it to people to solve it. Solving this evil I mean. The human dream is to live in a certain world interpreted by themselves, and now this interpretation gets Incinerated, leaving the protagonist just to look at things differently. Mainly this song is about someone discovering stuff thats new to him, things he would normally like, he now sees as evil, thus making him to change. |
| Opeth – The Grand Conjuration Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Also if Mikael says its is about "Satan", what or who does Satan mean to him? | |
| Opeth – The Grand Conjuration Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is about someone having to follow someone wise, not caring if this person may be evil or something, he/she just needs someone to follow and is desperate. He/she needs a mentor, and thing about, lets say psycho's, is that they are very charismatic people. So very sick indeed. But I don't think it has to be about "THE" satan, rather, a devil for another person. |
| Opeth – The Grand Conjuration Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You people look at it at a very plain way, I'd try to interpret it in a different way. For example, may this satan be "the" satan, or rather a person being satan for another. Maybe this "satan" or the great evil for a certain person. If I'm going to look at it at my more general way I'd say: This song is about |
| Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Damn I can really relate to this song, I'm the kind of guy who hasn't got any guts towards girls. This is the only song that can make me cry. I feel without control towards girls, there is this mental line between me and talking to girls. I also feel like not worthy, damn I feel bad :( |
| Morbid Angel – Rapture Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Morbid Angel IS death metal, saying it's not so is pure ignorance. Anyway, the song is simply about someone wanting to be unholy as whell :D |
| Death – Flattening Of Emotions Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| more* | |
| Death – Flattening Of Emotions Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| To be me specific, I think it's about someone becoming a psychopath. | |
| Death – Lack Of Comprehension Lyrics | 17 years ago |
By panametalhead "I think it might be about abortion. Laying your guilt and pain to the people that had no part in the molding of a life that creates its destruction. And some more parts." seems logical. I myself think it's about suïcide, as people who suïcide can't comprehend a reason to live. And as is quite well-known many people who suicide blame others. "Laying your Guilt and pain On people that had no part In the molding of a life That creates it's destruction" Is a good sign of my theory, people who stop living probably didnt want to live in the first place and blame others, and they grow into persons going to destroy themselves. "Reaching into the minds Of those that created the Depression in which they In which they drowned their flesh and blood" Also indicates suicide, as people get depressed they drown in their own flesh and blood. At the other hand: "Right before your very eyes A reflection of the mistakes To the end you will deny Your help in the ending of a life" Would indicate murder. And if you look at the start of the video of the song, you see someone drinking liquor, wich is something a lot people do when they want to hide away from the feeling of guilt. |
| Lamb of God – What I've Become Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think its about soldiers, as almost the entire album "ashes of the wake" is about war. To be specific: about american soldiers who fought in iraque. To be short about this song, its about american soldiers who fought in iraque and who aren't happy about the fight. They try to justify what they have become but instead its betrayal to their own moralitys |
| Lamb of God – O.D.H.G.A.B.F.E. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Dammit I can hardly comprehend how fucking evil people can be. And than even kicking the shit out of a person like Randy :( |
| Meshuggah – Shed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
A song with good lyrics. I think iiii was right about the 'I' thing. It is about interpretation itself. The 'I' thinks about all that is there. It`s about that I trying to find about stuff, and "All bets off, I plunge" he only finds that things are the way they are. Referring from plunge to shed, it means he doesn`t attain anything from trying to find answers. whell thats my interpretation, but I`m never far off. |
| Dismember – Dreaming In Red Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Personally the song and clip make me cry because it gets me in a place I feel home. Anyway its obviously about someone being killed, and is angry about it. He doesnt want to die, but cant do anything about it thus hes angry. |
| Behemoth – Inner Sanctum Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Gotta agree this one is hard. Its obvious about the soul of a evil person. Mainly what hes saying if you are evil you will feel good by evildoing (I never mourn, I never look back as long as Thy phosphoric rays grant me more pleasure than pain I, who is evil can receive no good though I still crave, I'm yearning for Thy healing touch ov grace...) and the last sentence saying that even whe you are evil you want also to receive good things. So I gues its in the end about if you are evil, you still got some good in yourself. But thats just global, I think nergal has some bigger feeling in this song. |
| The Berzerker – Reality Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| That drummer sure desirves credits, and I must say now I see the lyrics those are really good too. | |
| Meshuggah – Combustion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I find this song to have a positive message :D Very happy if you think about it. |
| Meshuggah – Pineal Gland Optics Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song has a possitive message. It is about someone developing getting a new perspective. It may be hard for that person to get there, but the person gets new interpretations. |
| Meshuggah – Combustion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is about someone thinking to have seen the light. Like that person knows everything there is to know. Its concluded in the last part: "Its framing - gold plated lies The canvas - hurting souls caught and weaved The artist - the human dream Incinerated, devoured, deceived" People believe in lies, get hurt, and have dreams. All get Incinerated, devoured and deceived because that person knows for himself what is the truth now. Everything he thought to be true gets "Incinerated, devoured, deceived" Its quite easy in the end ^^ |
| Meshuggah – Lethargica Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If interpreted in a fictional way, I would also come to a Lovecraftian monster. If interpreted in a more realistic way I would come to some one being cold-blooded, or insane. Someone who has "Its design perfected through aeons Pure, immaculate, clean, omnicidal god/machine" Wich makes me think of someone insane because that person would interpret himself. And unstoppable in his way of thinking, because he already thinks hes divine. Such a person can only be stopped when killed. |
| Meshuggah – Electric Red Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It has some deep stuff but it all leads to this: We all get our thoughts manipulated and there is no possible way to anything about it. All in a very violant way. But because its deep I think its about the very core and essence of someone's soul manipulated, and by machines so its done to an entire society. Wich leads me to the conclusion: The entire society, or the entire world is manipulated to become the way it is, because thats our system. |
| Meshuggah – This Spiteful Snake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think its a bit more than that, because they say: If given a thousand years to collect To process, to portray We could never encompass the voracity Of one single day So, seen its Meshuggah, I think its a bit more than the human way of lifes a bitch (even though its worse like u said) |
