I've never heard of Jacarandas referred to as "Flame Trees". Jacarandas have purple flowers. Illawarra Flame Trees on the other hand have red flowers and look like they are on fire when in flower. |

The song is about David Bowie. The line "He played it left hand" says it all. David plays left-handed. Ziggy was his "stage name". |

My vague rememberances of Latin are that in modern latin "mea culpa" is "I'm guilty", but in classical latin translates as "i'm sinful" and definately the version I prefer to use in context with this song. But it can also translate across as 'my fault'. |
