| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| If you are worried about what people think about the bands you listen to, then you are obviously already trying to conform. So unless one form of conforming is ok and another is not, I don't see the validity of your problem. | |

| MGMT – Time to Pretend Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's an obvious satire against the rockstar lifestyle. The phrase "time to pretend" should have gave it away. So would have "choke on our vomit." They don't aspire to live this lifestyle. In fact, one of them is a music geek. Far, far away from the styles of sex, drugs and rock n roll. What makes it interesting is that after the success of their debut album, they got hooked into the exact lifestyle that they so bluntly satirised. This strained their relationship and one of them even said in an interview that playing this song live became a painful experience. So, kids, no, they are not condoning the hedonistic lifestyle. Nor are they encouraging you to knock up a model and then move on. |

We're all gonna die, so live life. That's what it means in short. |

| Slash – Nothing to Say Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Have not analysed it thoroughly, but it seems to me that there are many religious references. Faith, design, greatest story ever told etc. | |
| The Sounds – Living in America Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song is not so much about putting down America, but about bringing Americans back down to earth. Just because you are American does not make you superior to everyone else (the common perception of many Americans). "We don't care about the world today" is most likely a play on the ignorance of many Americans. Many Americans are oblivious to the fact that the rest of the world not only does not look up to America, but actually despise America for its foreign policies. Just my view. NB: Many does not equal most. Just means many. |

| The Coral – In the Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is one of my favourite The Corals' song. I don't know what the writer meant, but this is what I see it as. "He" has been abandoned by something he cherish/love/enjoy and he has a strong desire to get it back but he doesn't know how. He's tried. But seems lost. He gets so disillusioned that he starts to think of himself as a "stranger in this life". He knows and admits it's his fault in the first place and longs for just another chance. But it never came and till now, he's still "haunted by yesterday's desire". This is what I think it means, only because I want it to. It is how I relate to it. The "he" obviously being me, and the "something" can be anything you want it to. A person, an object etc. Mine being a dream. |

| Sex on Fire? STD? Hmm. | |
| Scorpions – Humanity Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It is about humanity. Or the lack there of. | |
| Eric Clapton – Let It Grow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I guess you can see it as drug use, escaping reality. Or, it can be about self discovery, where you have to just "let it grow". | |
| The Coral – Dreaming Of You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Indeed, it could very well be about love, or it could just as easily be about heroin. What makes your heart skip a beat? Heroin and Love. What makes you feel as if flying? Heroin and Love. Unlike booze, heroin is usually taken in a room alone. Hence the lonely room reminding him of heroin, and the 2nd verse clearly shows a person suffering from withdrawal. All up to you to decide. |

| The Raveonettes – Uncertain Times Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Are you kidding? The music isn't amazing? It's brilliant! One of those songs that could clear my mind for full 4mins and just get sucked into it. Amazing music which puts the right atmosphere to express the lyrics. | |
| The Sounds – Rock 'n' Roll Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this song is just about them expressing her love for Rock n Roll. But if looked carefully, many parts of the song can also function as a metaphor for drugs, alcohol and sex. And since Rock n Roll is kinda synonymous to sex, drugs and alcohol, it really is up to you on which you'd like to interpret it as. Or, alternatively you can also consider it as Rock n Roll = Sex, drugs, alcohol, the music rock n roll. In other words, her meaning of rock n roll encompasses all these aspects. Just my 2c. |
