So obvious, right? |
Electric Six – Naked Pictures (Of Your Mother) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Oops, meant also to say the song isn't just about having sex with someone, it's about having something OVER someone. I make more money than you, I might like you better if we had sex, I did this, I did that, and oh yeah, I have naked pictures of your mother. |
Electric Six – Naked Pictures (Of Your Mother) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The lyric "I might like you better if we slept together" appears in numerous songs going back decades. The entire point of this song is that the protagonist is an unapologetic manipulative and crude person - so, yeah, the lyric is most definitely "I might like you better if we fuck together" - somebody taking a crude statement, and making it moreso. |
The Black Keys – The Go Getter Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The Go Getter I be the Go Getter Yes I am I be the Go Getter That's my plan The Go Getter Hi-fi boom box Pretty girl in bobby socks After party in a hotel room Pretty soon there will be no moon Stumble home in the pouring rain Let the water eat my worried brain Some days I just can't get alone I need a head to lean my shoulders on Palm trees The flat-broke disease And LA has got me on my knees I am the bluest of blues Everyday a different way to lose The Go Getter The Go Getter The Go Getter I got a table at the rainbow room I told my wife I'd be home soon Big ships approaching the docks I got my hi-fi boom box Mashed potatoes in cellophane I see my life going down the drain Hold me baby and don't let go Pretty girls help soften the blow Palm trees The flat-broke disease And LA has got me on my knees I am the bluest of blues Everyday a different way to lose The Go Getter The Go Getter The Go Getter I be the Go Getter That's my plan That's who I am The Go Getter Yeah, the Go Getter |
Crash Test Dummies – Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Lyrics | 15 years ago |
You people have to be kidding me. Child abuse?? Watch the video again, this time without your mind in the gutter. This song is about individualism and acceptance. Kid in the first example, his 'condition' could have happened to anyone, but people still talk to him enough to get the story. Kid in the second example, she has a 'birth defect' that makes her a bit of an oddball, probably from the first day of school onward. But bad as these two have it, the kid who has it worst of all is the one who appears outwardly normal, but is not free to be himself because his parents are repressive religious zealots. Sheesh. |
Clutch – Careful With That Mic Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The song is about Fred Durst, whom the band got sick of when Columbia forced the two bands to tour together in 96 or 97. |
Clutch – Open Up The Border Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The song's about the recording industry and many artists/labels refusal to allow fans to record/trade bootlegs. The band actually encourages people to engage in this activity. |
Faith No More – Everything's Ruined Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think the song is about 'stage parents' and the greed of that kind of person, looking at a child as an asset, letting others raise and guide the child, then when the kid's (whatever, appeal) wears off, finding out that they really don't know the kid at all. |
Clutch – The Regulator Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pure and simple, this song is about the protagonist reaching the end of a long road to revenge against someone he still loves. He's obviously conflicted by the prospect of carrying out his plan (though he feels like crying, he swears tonight he'll cry no more/how many times has he prayed that he'd get lost along the way, etc) but he sees the house in one verse, and in the next verse he's in the room where she's sleeping, silently admonishing her for how easy it was for him to get into the house, to put him into position where he has to psyche himself up to continue to the next step. The longest mile would be the actual execution of his plan. This is a deceptively powerful song, I always get a bit of a chill when I hear "You should have closed your windows and got another dog. You should have chained up all the doors and switched up all the locks." Makes me wonder - what happened to her other dog? |
Social Distortion – Ball and Chain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't know if 'happy' is the correct word for it, but the song does have a certain 'you're not here, but you're not all that far from here' quality about it that can act as a catharsis if you're in the right circumstance whne you happen to hear it. Maybe people get cheered up not so much by the song itself, but by the fact that they can listen to Ball & Chain for their wallowing without having to resort to country music schlock. I know that'd cheer me up. |
Extreme – More Than Words Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ahaha, I love the world some of you live in. This song originally appeared on a concept album called PORNOGRAFFITTI on which every song was about sex/decadence. But I'm sure a lot of people have to tell themselves that it's a love song, considering it caused their own pants to fall off at some point. |
Cold War Kids – We Used to Vacation Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Isn't it fathomable that the song is sung BY the child of an alcoholic, from the viewpoint OF an alcoholic? Kind of how Alice In Chains 'Rooster' wasn't about the singer being in Viet Nam, but rather his father. |
