| I push carts in a parking lot to pay for school, so this song seems to jive well with that for me. | |

I think that the song is about the death of entire populations of people. "Dead I am the one, Exterminating son Slipping through the trees, strangling the breeze" I think this is about the atomic bomb, since there is a scene about it in the video. Also Oppenheimer said "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One... I am become Death, the Shatterer of Worlds." and he was the one who invented atomic bomb. "Dead I am the sky, watching angels cry As they slowly turn, conquering the worm" I think this is about seeing the even unfold post-death, watching the angels turn their backs leaving us to our own destruction. By killing the worm so to speak with radiation we essentially salt and burn the landscape. "Dig through the ditches," For some reason I think of mass graves, like the pictures of the holocaust. "Burn through the witches" Also the killing of a group based on culture, at least that is what the burnings were colloquially, despite the actual events. "I slam in the back of my Dragula" Because of the musters I took this to be the sudden status as a monster tat lives a normal life. I took this to be a jab at the citizens who just let horrendous events occur, and still just go on with their lives. I think he is saying that no matter how normally you try to live, in that moment, you became a monster. Dead I am the rat, feast upon the cat Tender is the fur, dying as you purr I took this to be a mention of the black plague, the rats living on to eat the still living flesh of animals that can't defend themselves die to crippling illness. I doubt I am very spot on with this because I cannot really apply my framework to the other verses. This is just what I took it to mean. |
