Velvet Revolver – Do It For The Kids Lyrics

Haha, to be honest, I thought this song was about parental responsibility and sacrifice. But the sex thing makes more sense, now that I think about it. |

Kanye West – Heartless Lyrics

Some of these lyrics are dicky (well, what artists don't have dicky lyrics?), but this is a really nice song all-round. I think the meaning is pretty self-explanatory. |

Pink Floyd – One of My Turns Lyrics

I'm pretty sure that is supposed to be his wife.
And since Pink Floyd ties in all their quotes/lines with all their songs, favourite axe is probably inspired by Careful With that Axe, Eugene. |

Pink Floyd – Cymbaline Lyrics

I agree with anxiety, but at the same time, I do get the sort of vibe of a struggling musician/artist/whatever. |

Pink Floyd – Not Now John Lyrics

Yeah, basically a piss-take.
"is it me or does waters say "One, tow FREE FOUR" before the last verse (the french part)?"
Waters loves to mock the shit out of post-war Britain, and ties in his Father a lot with it; Free Four is a song about his Father. |

Ted Nugent – Fred Bear Lyrics

Yeah, that's not likely since Nugent has a history of adversity with the animal-peoples (SPCA, PETA, whichever ones they were). The Song is also likely a glorification of hunting; an activity Nugent is a big fan of, and he even runs his own hunting ranch I believe, so I'll go with that. |

Fort Minor – High Road Lyrics

The added cussing is interesting in that, it could either be a sign of immaturity, it could be him attempting to make the mainstream listen to his songs, or he could be trying to build up a satirical atmosphere (ala Pink Floyd's "Not Now John"). Whether he's being cynical, you might not ever be able to tell. |

Hmm, ya know, I get more of a vibe that it's about lack of communication, or seriousness. |

The Dubliners – The Black Velvet Band Lyrics

From a glance, it appears to be one of many stories about supposed "criminals" being forced to immigrate to Australia.
Van Diemen was a Dutch colonist, best known for his exploration of Australia, which reinforces the idea. |

Something like that.
Hemingway's "The Old Man & The Sea" presents a very passionate fishermen. In many ways, this appears to be similar, only with hunting. |

Supertramp – Breakfast in America Lyrics
|
Personal opinion, darling, but advertising another band probably isn't the best thing to be doing.
Anyhow, sounds like somebody wanting to immigrate. Nothing really to keep them there. Only it's given a more cynical tone, and it appears to be more of a pisstake of America being the land of dreams.
Nice Piano intro too, btw. |

Jethro Tull – Heavy Horses Lyrics

Of intriguing note, is that Jethro Tull (the agriculturist), advocated the use of horses over oxen and other beasts. The band seems to love singing about the industrial revolution. |

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics

I think this song is about responding to humans, even strangers that we don't know, with empathy as opposed to apathy. I am you and what I see is me is possibly the greatest line I've heard in a very long time. |

Pink Floyd – Not Now John Lyrics

Also, to the guy that interpreted "pissed" as "being angry", I never looked at it like that, but it might be worth knowing that "getting pissed" is slang for getting drunk. Though, you might have already known. >_> |

Korpiklaani – Fields In Flames Lyrics

Yeah, I'd say Afterburn pretty much hit the nail on the head. Perhaps the song represents trying to ignore something you aren't particularly proud of, but you do it anyway, because it's what is required of you. |

Iron Maiden – Mother Russia Lyrics
|
Interesting theory, but I'd say it's a more cynical comment to Czar Nicholas, saying "remember those glory days? You ain't nothing now," sort of thing. "Freedom at last, turning the tides of history," seems to represent how much the Russian nations always seemed to struggle with their Aristocracy gaining too much power, and completely abusing it. |

Pink Floyd – Not Now John Lyrics
|
I know this might sound far-fetched, but I've been thinking, perhaps this song signifies sometimes how we don't think. Here, John would represent the part of the protagonist that is "thinking". The one singing the song, would be the patriotic, nationalist, "bigot" side of him that we all get, at times. "Now now John" would be the denial to go back to that attitude, and would represent the struggle of trying to maintain a steady balance. Again, though, it's not probably too big of a depart from the rest of the album to be what was intended. |
