Why hasn't anyone commented this yet? My god. This song just fills me with a certain kind of hope. I think the songs about a man who's not proud of himself and his past mistakes and he's saying everything he will do from this point forward. Howardel is an excellent writer and I feel like he has always been somewhat in the shadows of Maynard. The other part of this song that I would like to comment on the lyric "I will not lose you to the melting sky" how the key shifts. my god that is awesome. :-]

Hurt – Assurance Lyrics

where does this say "break-up" or is leaving him? I think the man is talking about a volatile relationship that possibly has ended but the ending had always occured. Like he said its always "one more round," and I suppose this is what the man always enjoyed about their love. Whether they were together or seperate he also belonged to her and she always belonged to him They've said their last goodbyes, numerous times. Look at the shift in tenses when he sings about writing the song. The way he says that she wont sing along anymore, I feel as if she's died and hasn't decided to just leave. I love this song probably the most out of all the songs I've heard thusfar from Vol. II.

i don't what this means to phil but i know what it means to me. when my boyfriend cheated on me, I never met the other girl. She always seemed like this ghost-like figure that I could not escape from. no matter how I tried. One day I went back there to get my things and he let me know she was in his bedroom. This song is about feeling so hateful towards someone that if they were dying, you wouldn't look twice. This is how I felt about her. Since then, I've realized that I was probably transferring a lot of the hatred that should have been on him on to her because I loved him.

make love to this song.. hmm sounds like a good idea. This is really a beautiful song. Her voice is so fragile and the violin sounds like its crying itself. This single song destroys the typical idea of "the werewolf" as this unfeeling murderer. Imagine if you had to kill the person you loved and you couldnt stop yourself or explain why. Exactly.

Hurt – House Carpenter Lyrics

I think of a man. Past his prime and collecting his thoughts. The woman he thought he was in love with has left him for someone who he obviously perceives to be inferior. House carpenter? House carpenter. Just look at how much the lead singer chooses to emphasize those words. What do you think of when you think of a house carpenter? A simple ordinary man. So what does that make the speaker? The speaker might have tried to keep the woman with ways other than true love, maybe spoil her with money etc. Anyway, whether or not this is intentional. The emphasis on his lost love being buried with her NEW husband either suggests that the speaker is murdering these two in his mind, or he has lost all control and has killed them himself.

The Moody Blues – Gemini Dream Lyrics

i saw the moody blues in concert a year or so ago. old men in with graying beards and plump like santa clause but they really put on a show. this song has its particular innuendos but I definitely feel like it's about just going out and having a good time. Sometimes its not JUST about the lyrics. The tempo of the song is upbeat, the music sounds like some exciting thrill ride through a haunted house. Maybe like thriller where you have those nights where you're almost afraid of what may come but you know it's going to be fun, whatever it is.

i feel like i am this girl sometimes. her husband/boyfriend/significant other may not necessarily be abusive but something isnt right. She isn't in love and she pretends that someday she will be. It is as though she is held prisoner in the relationship because of her own fear of finding something better. This man is the fall-back and she wrestles with the idea of being free but she never will be. This reminds me of me, sadly.

Hurt – Dirty Lyrics

i fell in love with hurt's tainted grasp on religion. "The Rapture" shows this kind of angst against organized religion. Does anyone get a somewhat unpure feeling when the singer sings of the man in purple? Who is the little girl? Part of me wants to think that this is tied in with "The Rapture" and that the little girl is devout and faithful and because of her faith and the speaker's inadequacies in that area, they can never be.

Hurt – Danse Russe Lyrics

in my opinion, hurt is one of the greatest and most unappreciated harder rock bands at this point in time. the lyrical content is just incredible. (This is rockerxchick by the way) This song gives me chills and it's ambiguity makes my head spin but it seems so carefully constructed. I just see this man expecting so much from a "doll," a woman who occupies his bed not because she loves him but because he needs her. Why is she called a "tiny dancer" and what is the "danse russe"? "I just need to feel you breathe" demonstrates the mans admiration and the fact that nothing is said about what she says or what she does shows you how she chooses to be uninvolved in the relationship. Very sad song.
