Listen to the phone recording at the end of the song Heatbeat on Mike Watt's album. You'll see how much of a racist sexist psycho she really is. |

FYI. To quote Tim himself from an interview about the album Domestica ""Kim and I never had problems with cheating on each other," Kasher said. "It's part of that fictitious relationship I wanted to write about. Some of their problems weren't necessarily about us." I think this also can be said for his other songs. If you pay attention to his writing style, you can't always take them literally. He could be being sarcastic, playing a part. You just have to pay closer attention. |

Another song that seems like this is a guy involved with a woman who is making him wait to have sex (and by previous songs it seems she is waiting until marriage) "can't know how it tastes unless you plan to stay" references to feeling like a beta cub..and the word virgin being thrown around. Plus, a couple songs on this same album dealing with marriage. |

I don't know why, but when reading the lyrics to this album, I got a feeling of somebody getting married to a girl that was waiting until marriage to have sex. |

I think it's more along the lines of the bride caring more about the wedding rather than what the groom thinks. |

You said pretty much what I was thinking Jahydin. People need to realize that not all lyrics are meant to be taken literally from the perspective of the lyricist. I personally think Davey Havok does this quite often in songs. This song could be easily about the dependency people have on sex or one night stands. Of course if an artist being obviously against it, many people wouldn't like the song...but as their Blaqk Audio album let everybody know "Cex Cells" |

I think this song could easily be about having sex (or being intimate) with groupies on tour. |

To me, it seemed obvious that it was about a person changing in life. Sounds like he used to believe in God, he used to care more about things, exactly what the lyrics say. The chorus is him hoping that somebody will save him.
The last part about the "Scene of the accident" was about running into traffic because of all of this....and people talking about him after the suicide. |

Daryl isn't a misogynist. He is a liar though. "True until death"? For him that translates to "true until whenever I change my mind" I used to idolize the guy. Then after time you realize that his words don't hold any weight. He became everything he used to be against. Along with his lifestyle changes it seems it also affected his lyric writing ability. Head Automatica's lyrics are quite middle-schoolish. I think him being straight edge in a society that is out drunk and having sex with each other helped fuel the amazing lyrics and passion that were in the first 2 Glassjaw albums. Now that fire is gone and it shows. |

I'm kind of curious what interpretations of this song are. It seems like it might just be somebody who doesn't want get involved in commitments, or possibly somebody who keeps cheating on somebody. The part I don't get is the chorus "don't fail me now". Is he speaking to himself or the person he is speaking to, because I don't see how the other person would be failing him. |

You are both right. It's about a relationship with a person while you are trying to get off drugs, and they continue to make things harder (cuz they probably use drugs themselves) and it makes them start using again.
"For you to go and take this
And smash it apart
I've gone all this fucking way
To wind up back at, back at the start..."
"Well, it hides in the dark,
Like a withering vein,
We didn't give it a mouth
So it cannot complain"
Those lyrics are a reference to a vien dying to have some herion shot into it.
"We never really had a chance
We never really make it through
And now to think I believed
I believed I could get better with you"
Another lyric that makes perfect sense when looked at with that view. |

In my opinion, this song is about a person (Trent Reznor) who is fighting to get off drugs, but when he relapses he doesn't want anybody to know, because they already have their doubts. |
