Portishead – Cowboys Lyrics 14 years ago
For some reason I've always felt that this song and "Western Eyes" would go great as the opening/ending credits (respectively) for a movie version/adaptation to the Dark Tower series. Some of the lyrics even kind of offer references that fit in with the story of the series. Just my opinion anyways. (And I always picture the opening credits being like the Cowboy Bebop opening credits)

I don't think Chris is a fan of religion in general. Just look at the songs Blind Dogs and Boot Camp for evidence of this.

Soundgarden – Incessant Mace Lyrics 17 years ago
I dont know why every lyrics site Ive ever seen ever, has the lyrics as "Magazine stacks..." seeing as how if you listen to the song it seems impossible to make the connection to that word which has too many syllables and doesnt even sound like what might be lyriced in the song. For those who don't know what it could be its actually:

"Leisure Slacks and Broken Backs"

For the ensuing nay-sayers go listen to some of the live versions for clarification and proof... especially the bootleg album titled "Big Dumb Sex" where it is pretty clearly obvious what he says. Not to mention the actual album... just play it with the phrase above in your mind, then play it back with the "magazine" in your mind, and then see which sounds closer to the sounds that chris actually makes.

Now as for the actual song. It is Amazing! I love Kims neverending guitar work in this song, its like one giant blues solo weaved in with another blues riff. its awesome and helps prove the diversity of Soundgarden.

Soundgarden – Head Injury Lyrics 17 years ago
This 1st verse is actually:
"...your words are like hammers" then the "...There's permanent damage" part. Its not a bad short song break before the godliness that is Incessant Mace.

Soundgarden – HIV Baby Lyrics 17 years ago
Well since no one has commented Ill be the 1st to say that the name of the song comes from I think Chris hearing someone call Kim or someone else an HIV Baby because he wouldnt drink out of anyone elses pop/water bottles, and wouldnt take a drag off of others cigarettes. I find the term cute and humorous, anytime someone is overly paranoid about things like that I call them an HIV baby.

Soundgarden – Applebite Lyrics 17 years ago
I like how haunting the sound of this song is. Chris said that he was trying to add some lyrics just so it had something but was still trying to keep it an instrumental. I like that, how the voice in this song (as it is in many) is more thought of as a instrument, and how chris does a lot of vocalizing in sounds and tones that fill in and flesh out the end part of the song, kind of like how he used to begin his live performances when he was touring for his Euphoria Morning solo album. The song is brooding and dark. I think Ben also reffered to it as part of the "Orange Marmalde" set (this was on the into the upside interview) along with some other songs, pretty noose, and head down.. a few others I cant remember, and since Im at work, I cant load up the mp3 and listen to it. Regardless... Excellent song.

This song would have to be tied for my Favorite song off Badomotorfinger. This and Slaves & Bulldozers. The guitar is heavy and un yielding, the amount of overdubbed and interweaved guitar tracks provides a godly and complex sound that is unrivaled. I think it is unfortunate it was never played live (or atleast that I could find, it and a few other songs were never played live, or were only played once.) I also like the fact that the song can easily coincide with several moods you are in, it can go great as an angry song to sing along with when mad. But also has a tone that can be adapted to depression or a saddened mood. SoundGarden is far from excellent.

I have also read that this song was about the record industry and them signing a major label. Regardless, its one of the best songs on Badmotorfinger. Its awesome!! The lyrics and vocals are great, and Kims guitar playing as usual is Godly! I also love how is is master of using, creating and controling feedback. Without a doubt one of the worlds greatest guitar players.

Soundgarden – Room a Thousand Years Wide Lyrics 17 years ago
This is my 2nd favorite song off of Badmotorfinger! (2nd only to a tie between Slaves & Bulldozers and New Damage) But I dont think this song is about anything that has been mentioned here really, which is why everyone has their own personal interpretations. And given the fact that Kim has a Philosphy degree, and what he has said in interviews etc I think its fair enough to see that he has a more philisophical approach to songwriting. Which is why even though not complete I think "Oh Pea"s opening statement about our onotological experience of time and the passage of time is more inline with the songs theme.

Kyuss – Big Bikes Lyrics 17 years ago
Im pretty certain it supposed to be "From a Bad Bitch" (I dont understand how some of the lyrics on these sites can be so obviously wrong like in some of the other kyuss song postnigs. It might be due to people not actually knowing them and so they just copy and paste whatever is written on other random lyric sites.

I don't know when Natasha Shneider was diagnosed with cancer but since her death I've felt this song could have been about it or in regards to feelings related to it. If not, I've also felt in general it could just be about not giving up on anything and knowing that you can always change a situation starting right "now" and then everything can begin new. I've been saddened that she is gone, as has been said many times she will be missed. Her and Alains music has been a huge influence on me (and many others).

Tim Buckley – Goodbye and Hello Lyrics 17 years ago
I love Tim Buckley (and Jeff), he does have great songwriting, I love the way the chorus is like two alternating chorus's intertwined. If you like Tim Buckley check out his son Jeff Buckley, I would say he has one of the most beautiful voices ever. He also covered some of his fathers songs.

Jeff Buckley – Hymne A L'Amour Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually the lyrics are similar also, the english translation of the french lyrics are The blue sky can collapse on us
And the earth fall to ruins,
I don't care, as long as you love me.
I don't care a damn about the world.
As long as love lights my mornings
As long as my body trembles under your hands
I care little about problems
My love since you love me.
I would go to the end of the world
I would have my hair died blonde
If you asked me.
I would go and unhook the moon
I would go and steal a fortune
If you asked me.
I would reject my country
I would reject all my friends
if you asked me.
People can laugh at me
I would do anything
If you asked me.
If one day life tears you away from me
If you die whilst away from me
I don't care as long as you love me
Because I will die too
We will have eternity all to us
In the blue all immensity
In heaven no more problems,
My love, do you believe we love each other
As God reunites those that love one another.

(Jeff Buckley Rules! regardless)
