Simon and Garfunkel – A Poem On The Underground Wall Lyrics 18 years ago
NO NO NO NO NO!!!! this song is about homelessness. at first i thought the man was writing a swear word also, but he's not. he is writing "HOME" because thats what the subway station is to him. he clings to the crayon like a religious object because its one of the few things he has. this song is profound.

Paul Simon – Graceland Lyrics 18 years ago
this is my favourite song in the entire world. its about how were all poor boys, pilgrims and families. all different, crazy people but we're all bouncing along together trying to get to the same place, trying to get to happiness. and on your journey you bring the people you love like your 9 year old son as your travelling companions because when you find happiness you want them to find it too. and on the way you meet other people who give you insights like what it means to be a human trampoline and what it means to lose love.

i also love it because it reminds me of the "tro-tros" (shared taxis) of africa. (it was going to africa that inspired paul simon to make graceland) the people in the tro tro are poor boys and pilgrims and families and theyre bouncing along on the dirt road together, all trying to get to the same place.

Paul Simon – You Can Call Me Al Lyrics 18 years ago
graceland is amazing and every song in it reminds me of africa, particularly this one. (it was going to africa that inspired simon to make this album) perhaps the "angels in the architecture" refers to when you are an obviousl foreigner in an african city (having white skin) everyone stares at you and when you look up into the buildings you see children peeking out at you.

Bright Eyes – Take It Easy (Love Nothing) Lyrics 18 years ago
i love the transistion in this song when he talks about being frightened and vanishing. he sleeps with a female friend who rejects him and because of this negative experience at a young age he wants to protect himself from being hurt again by vanishing and treating girls the way she treated him

Bright Eyes – Gold Mine Gutted Lyrics 18 years ago
this song reminds me of high school...."hooded sweatshirt walks" where you put on a hoodie and take a walk to smoke pot so your parents wont catch you....touching girls from class, getting incompletes on assignments, watching your significant other from the sidelines of their football game...

Iron & Wine – Teeth in the Grass Lyrics 18 years ago
when theres peace on earth and were all lovers and brothers at last, all creatures will live in harmony and wont kill and eat each other. the teeth in the grass line could therefore mean that we'll all eat plants or we wont need our teeth anymore so we can just throw them in the grass....terribly worded i know

Leonard Cohen – Dance Me to the End of Love Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is about getting married. they dance "through the panic" of their nervousness but then theyre "safely in." later, after the wedding when "the witnesses are gone" they consummate the marriage and "move like they do in babylon." (babylon being the place of sin). then he describes their affection for each other outlasting any possession, such as their curtains. and at the end of the song, he repeats the verse about the burning violin to show that the passion from the beginning of the relationship is still alive. leonard cohen is AWESOME.
