This song was written for the 1991 Robin Hood movie with Kevin Costner. It's a love ballad and declaration towards Marian from Robin, Basically it's an epic, romantic, swashbuckling love song that fits the theme of the movie and the times of the legend and I must say I know it's been played to death over the years but it is an incredibly beautiful, moving, heartfelt song and message to the one you love. In the movie Robin has returned from the holy land after many years being away from England. He hasn't seen Marian since they were children so he doesn't recognise her at first. They start to bond and feelings start to emerge between them. Robin loses his lands and title to the sheriff and retreats into the forest, there he forms a band of merry men who join with him to fight the sheriff. Marian and her lady come to the forest and wish to be taken to Robin. Marian ventures to the waterfall where she sees Robin. After that she spends time with him in the forest helping him and is amazed at what he has achieved in his fight against the sheriff. Their feelings grow deeper for each other but Robin has to send her away for her safety. On the riverbank they say their goodbyes and in my opinion is where this song begins. Robin asks her to get word to her cousin King Richard about the sheriff's plans and will she do it for her king, Marian replies no,she'll do it for him, gives him a kiss and quickly gets on the boat. As she is rowing away, One of Robin's men who is blind says to her "He fancies you, my Lady. I may be blind, but there are some things I still see." Robin and Marian stare at each other as this is happening. It's when Robin and Marian are apart after this when this song takes shape. "Look into my eyes, You will see What you mean to me Search your heart, Search your soul And when you find me there, you'll search no more Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for You know it's true Everything I do, I do it for you" He's telling her to truly see him and see his heart. she's his heart. the life they lead with him being an outlaw doesn't matter. Their love means so much more and will overcome. "Look into your heart, You will find There's nothin' there to hide Take me as I am, Take my life I would give it all, I would sacrifice Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for I can't help it, there's nothin' I want more You know it's true Everything I do, I do it for you" He's telling her to search her own heart and he knows she feels the same, that she can have everything that is Robin, that he's an outlaw who has lost his lands and title but the man just wants Marian to love the man that is robin. There's violence, bloodshed and death in the legend but their love is worth fighting for, he can't help his feelings for her, he knows he needs to keep her away and safe but he loves her. Everything he does fighting for England means so much more because Marian is with him. "There's no love Like your love And no other Could give more love There's nowhere Unless you're there All the time, All the way, yeah Look into your heart, baby" She's the love of his life, his feelings for her eclipse anything else. He feels in her what he feels in himself, a soulmate. He's telling her there's nowhere and nothing for him without her. He's pining for her and their distance. "Oh you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for I can't help it there's nothin' I want more Yeah, I would fight for you, I lie for you Walk the wire for you, yeah, I'd die for you" He repeats that she can't tell him that the love he has for her and she for him isn't worth it. the very last lines here are the end of the movie. Marian has been taken by the sheriff who has dragged her to the altar to force her to marry him, meanwhile trying to rape her at the same time. Robin comes for her, catapults into the castle, smashes through the tower window, fights and kills the sheriff. Marian falls into his arms, touches his face and says "You came for me" Robin replies "I would die for you". they passionately kiss and afterwards marry each other in the forest. The song keeps going especially in the longer version talking about how they'll get through everything, he'll do anything for her even die for her. at then end "I'm going all the way, yeah" well he did against all odds, he rescued her and declared his love. |

LMAO at the comment about Rocky being in love with Apollo :D No really, all joking aside. This song is about Rocky feeling desperate in Rocky 4 after Apollo's death and his need to avenge his friend and his need to reconcile it with his wife Adrian who he has a huge argument with before driving off in his car with this song. "YOU CAN'T WIN" Rocky is at a crossroads here and during the song there are flashbacks of happier times (throughout the first 3 Rocky movies) and then sad ones (Rocky and Mickey, Rocky and Apollo Rocky and Adrian etc.) This is Rocky at a desperate moment considering whether he should give up or not "There's no easy way out, there's no shortcut home, There's no easy way out, Giving in can't be wrong" The road ahead (Russia, training, Drago etc.) is gonna be tough and he's wondering if he's gonna be able for it and whether he might bring Adrian and his kid down with him. |

This is a fantastic song. It really pumps you up and inspires. If you know the Rocky saga, you'll know that this song is about Rocky Balboa. Survivor wrote this after being asked by Stallone. They looked at some Rocky clips and wrote the song based on what they saw. That bum bum bum drum sound throughout the song is the punches that Survivor were watching as part of the fight clips they were sent. This song was for Rocky 3 where Rocky is now rich and a famous knockout champ, But he gets comfortable and starts resting on his laurels and living the easy life. Meanwhile he doesn't see Clubber Lang studying him and coming up behind him to take his title. Clubber is now the Rocky of the first Rocky, and Rocky has essentially become the cocky Apollo - Money, fur, endorsements, the celeb lifestyle etc. He loses his 'eye of the tiger' his hunger, ambition, and he has to find it again to beat Clubber. He has to go back to what he was, cause there was an honesty and rawness there. He's lost his edge, his danger, because he got too comfortable which is exactly what happened to Apollo both with Rocky, and then fatally with Drago in Rocky 4. The 'eye of the tiger' is that dangerous glint before the kill (the knockout). if you listen to the lyrics, the song is Rocky. He rises from a bum on the streets with hunger and fire to win, and he does, goes straight to the top - goes the distance. "You change your passion for glory" exactly what Rocky does in the movie. Becomes a celeb rather than a real fighter. "Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive" He has to become the bum Rocky again to win back his title and defeat Clubber. He has to go back to what he knows, like keeping your feet squarely on the ground. He loses the fight and Micky, reevaluates his life, and with Apollo's help and his original training he gets his hunger and edge back = his eye of the tiger. |

This song makes me feel so nostalgic and happy. It takes me back in time to when i was a child. I think the song is saying that you should let go of all the negative. Remember when you were a child and you were so innocent and you didn't have to worry about what we now worry about as adults. Well why can't it be like that, We're the same people we're doing it to ourselves so we should change and in doing so we find what we think we lost. Show our true selves, don't hide anymore. we get caught up protecting ourselves that we miss out. If your'e gay you're gay, if your'e sad your're sad etc. We hide from fear of what people will think but at the end of the day we're the same. we're our biggest critics and the song is our inner child screaming wake up. This song is so amazingly beautiful. I've loved this song for so long. Enigma's music is just so beautiful and complex. When i listen to their music , they take you to another place. I had this song played at my mothers funeral mass 2 years ago. I find it hard to give myself to people even my family especially my mam, so by giving her this song i kind of gave her my heart that day because this song is truely my heart, this and Dante's prayer. sorry bout all the soppiness that topic is still a sore spot even now 2 years later and i'm quite a deep person especially with music. As for the meaning i think this is your soul trying to connect with you. The lyrics are quite beautiful and everyone will interpret their own meaning from them, and i think thats what's supposed to happen. "Turn around and smell what you don't see Close your eyes ... it is so clear Here's the mirror, behind there is a screen On both ways you can get in Don't think twice before you listen to your heart Follow the trace for a new start What you need and everything you'll feel Is just a question of the deal" I think this means that we are all so much bigger than we think we are and so much more special than we believe. We're part of something bigger and we get bogged down with the mundane in life. The day to day stuff and we don't see the bigger picture or we are afraid to, of what it could mean. Of course i have my doubts about that stuff just like everybody else but at the end of the day it all comes down to faith and it can be hard to believe in something that you can't see or feel but we can't see air but we know it's there and i think the lyrics are saying " don't look at what you can see, look further at what you can't see, see the bigger idea. my favourite lyrics are: "The experience of survival is the key To the gravity of love" I think this speaks volumes especially when it comes to the meaning of life. I truely believe that the meaning of life is love in whatever shape or form. its the most special thing in the world. Everybody wants to be loved and give love even the people who can't give that part of themselves. Everyone needs to. Love in families, love in relationships, love in friendship. Love for yourself. It's all the same. The lyrics are saying you'll go through pain and sorrow and despair in life and you'll survive and thats the key to love. Love is painful but amazing, you wouldn't feel pain and despair if you didn't love and care. Its horrible but its necessary. "Look around just people, can you hear their voice Find the one who'll guide you to the limits of your choice" We are all so caught up in ourselves that we don't stop and think that we're all the same, crying out for the same thing. This song is so sweet and really easy on the ears. The meaning is really self explanatory, a relationship has broken up and one person misses the other and wants to start again. This song for me is the most beautiful and heartfelt song i have ever heard. There's not a time that i don't cry whenever i hear this song. i actually shiver when i hear this song. Her voice is so melodic and penatrating and every word she sings goes straight to your heart. the music plays your heart like an instrument. When her voice changes pitch so does your heart if you can understand me. I see this song in two ways. The first is that the song is like a lament or a eulogy. Your loved ones are saying Goodbye to you, Leaving that final bit of wisdom and it's like they are talking to you from beyond the grave. They're telling you to carry on even through the pain that you feel. Remember them and remember the strength they gave you. They are telling you how they felt about life whether it be in sickness or sadness. They are giving you that piece of themselves that everyone hides, the piece that they couldn't give you in life. The second meaning for me is the part of the listener. The listener is hearing this song They identify with it. The world is speaking to them. Telling them that everybody feels pain and grief and sadness and happiness and fear. Everybody in the world has that moment where they question themselves and wonder if they fit in this world. Everybody has that moment of true despair and sorrow and desperately need guidance because they feel so lost. This song is their guidance. It gives them strength and the answer they need. Life can be so hard sometimes for everybody and you can feel so lost and not understand anything or not even care. I lost my mother 2 years ago to a long battle with depression and it tore everything up inside me. all my issues and problems came together and i had a mid life crisis at 22 but you heal slowly with time. life is pain and pain is life but pain is also strength. Pain makes you the person you are. It's horrible but it is true. whether its god or religion or spirituality or your soul or loved one speaking to you, Its the same. This is why i understand this song on that level and it will always be that way for me. As for the lyrics: "I did not believe because I could not see" This is deep. For me this means that the person can't see past their own pain and can't see the light ahead. they need to see the light to believe. they won't trust themselves. "Cast your eyes on the ocean Cast your soul to the sea When the dark night seems endless Please remember me" These are my favourite lyrics in the whole song. They say look around, i'm here. close your eyes i'm here. think of me and i'll give you strength and show you how special you are. "Though we share this humble path, alone How fragile is the heart" We all live in this world. we eat and sleep like the human's we are but we experience the same emotions differently. love, anger, happiness. we all know what they mean but feel them, as each unique person that we are. each feeling can give one person strength but at the same time break another. "Breathe life into this feeble heart Lift this mortal veil of fear" Make me feel alive. give me what i need give me whats missing. Take my pain away. | Hi, New here. I think each person will read into their own personal meaning for these lyrics because i think it really looks like they were just thrown together. for me personally it seem like he's madly in love with her and she's not healthy for him but he can't help himself. she consumes him body and soul. My favourite part of this song is the chorus and the coming undone lyric, i think that means to fall apart because he's fallen deeper than she has. it's almost like an obsessive , possessive love for her.
