i absolutely love her cover of that song. it's so heartbreaking though. it's about the passing time and getting older. when you know everything have to change but you don't want it to and you're holding on to the past and forgeting about the future, forgeting to live. but it will not lead you anywhere, it will only make you feel worse when you realize you wasted so much time standing in one pleace and reminiscing things you cannot change.
i think she was afraid of getting older, but i think she finally realized this is the only way to go. that, that's life. i think she's learning to deal with it. |

this is my creazy interpretation: it's around 1901, her name is annabel and she's rich. she was in love with a soldier and had an affair with him. he went to war and she realized she's pregnant with him. than he was killed on the battle field and her body is not strong enough to keep the baby alive. and now after a year she's standing on the dorset cliff and watching the sea, wondering if she should jump. she knows she will never love anyone else, that she's ment to live her life alone...and she feels like it's going to be a long and sad road til finally these hills will bury her bones... |

Everytime I hear this song I feel like I'm underwater, in the deep black ocean with all these little creatures. Her voice and the piano and the lyrics, it all sounds like the water and you really feel like you're diving inside yourself to discover the hidden truth. I got chills everytime. The funny thing is I liked it after I've read the lyrics and now I love that song. |
