Neil Young – Crime In The City Lyrics 15 years ago
I always thought this was Neil's way of paying homage to Bob Dylan in this song, cus it starts out like "All along the watchtower". In Both songs the author puts you inside a great story, you can almost picture the whole thing he's talking about. I could be wrong though. This is just a master storryteller at work.

Bruce Springsteen – The Wrestler Lyrics 15 years ago
I've never been that big on bruce as a lyricist, but this song is great. He captures the essence of the character in movie. FullDevilSoccer is right on with the lyrics. Bruce was straight to the point and deep at the same time. I think the quote from the movie is "I'm an old broken down piece of meat, and I deserve to be all alone".

Neil Young – Don't Be Denied Lyrics 15 years ago
This might be one of my top 3 favorite Neil songs. This as autobiographical as it gets, Neil putting it down with great lyrics, passion and just raw emotion.

"Oh Canada, We played all night. I really hate to leave you now, But to stay here wouldn't feel right." So much passion, emotion and guilt leaving his place of birth. That says so much, and sparks up so many emotions in like three little sentences. Pure genius from a master storyteller.

Neil Young – Human Highway Lyrics 15 years ago
"I come down from the misty mountain". What a genius way to start a song. To me this means getting high on some good Cali weed, and coming to reality when the high is gone. If you read the book "shakey" or hear some of his old bootlegs, (I suggest every single big Neil fan do this) He used to get high on weed by himself all the time. It was his way of not dealing or socializing with people. On a bootleg i just found the other day from 1976, He goes off for like 5 minutes about "honey slides", putting honey on a joint with bad weed, so it'll taste good. Pretty funny stuff. This man is pure genius.

Neil Young – Barstool Blues Lyrics 16 years ago
"He trusted in a woman
And on her he made his bets
Once there was a friend of mine
Who died a thousand deaths"

This last verse shows the lyrics of a young genious gambling for love. Who hasn't done that in their young lives ? Those are poerful lyrics my friends.....

Neil Young – Old King Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about his dog. His dog's name was actually Elvis, but he didn't want any confusion.

This is a song about him trying to bang Pattie Boyd. Simply put, a work of art.

Neil Young – Helpless Lyrics 16 years ago
What does this song mean to me ? It mean that Neil Young's guitar is an extension of his heart. The version on Live From Massey Hall has to be the best. When I close my eyes while listening he takes me to a town in North Ontario where I've never been, Man that's powerful stuff.

"Come along with me, misery loves company" That line is pure genius and selfexplanatory.

Mountain – Nantucket Sleigh Ride Lyrics 16 years ago
I first heard this acouple of months back on the Howard Stern Show coming out of the break, and had to look up.

"Starbuck's sharpening his harpoon
The black man's playing his tune
An old salt's sleeping his watch away
He'll be drunk again before noon"

. This sounds like a heroin addict is getting his fix while he listens to black music. Kinda backs up my theory that the greatest songs are written on and about drugs. Great song.

James Taylor – Fire And Rain Lyrics 16 years ago
I just started listening to J. Taylor not that long ago, and I think he is one of the most powerful lyricists ever. Fire and Rain takes you to see things through the eyes of a heroin addict. "Won't you look down upon me jesus, You've got to help me make a stand" That's a man at his lowest point asking for help from the man upstairs. Whoa! That is powerful stuff. If it wasn't for the internet i don't think I would ever come across J. Taylor.
