I remember playing this and the rest of the album loud in London in the late 1970s. My friends and I certainly knew what this was about, and we understood every word and every feeling. |

Please.
Its about a girl who is growing up. She plays the games of a woman, because, well, she is a woman. Old enough now to get married, she doesn't act the way he wants. She plays, as said, the games of a woman.
A very recognizable situation. C'est la vie, and the wheel keeps turning and turning.... from the Assyrians to today and beyond, this is he way it will always be. |

Clearly, Johnny is raped by another boy. That part is obvious. There's drugs involved somewhere too (snow up his nose - cocaine). So far so easy.
Then Johnny has to deal with this disastrous event. Does he actually commit suicide or get handed a knife? Or is this merely an escape into fantasy as a result of his inability to deal with it? |
